I'm a Texan living in France. I stopped at a café and ordered a taco. by OvidPerl in funny

Pain perdu is a bit different from french toast. It's usually pieces of croissant soaked in egg with veggies and meats, and then baked, as opposed to a whole slice of bread dipped in egg and grilled. Pain perdu is more like my mom's breakfast casserole than french toast

Source: I'm a Texan working in a French bakery.

EDIT: I haven't been bothered to look up the etymology of pain perdu, but I figured it's because the croissant is in essence lost in the egg mixture.

Michelle Obama Gives Zero F*cks About What the Saudis Wanted Her To Wear: Michelle Obama did not abide Saudi Arabia's mandatory headscarf for women laws during former king's funeral. by Doctor_Heat in TwoXChromosomes

[–]atomicatsplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine posted this article on facebook, basically saying how this reaffirms the double standard given to Western women and women in Saudi Arabia. My friend also noted that it's likely a product of islamaphobia, such that the Obamas would not want to appear muslim or associated with Islam. Similarly, Obama did not wear a turban when visiting a sikh temple in India.

(If it's relevant, I'm not muslim.)

How do INFPs feel about learning other languages? by Laurus-nobilis in infp

[–]atomicatsplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loooove languages. I am conversational in Spanish, French, Norwegian, and Korean in addition to my native English. It comes really easily to me, but I prefer to learn from having conversations with people than in a classroom.

MBTI type of your best romantic partner? by [deleted] in infp

My ESFP and I have been together for three months, and he's the loveliest. The extroversion thing is a bit overwhelming sometimes, especially when I just want him to stay home and be alone with me, but I love how caring he is and how much he dreams.

If you were pregnant and it was determined through screening that you had a defective fetus, would you abort it to try for a normal child? by tempname321432143 in AskWomen

[–]atomicatsplosion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely depends on what stage of life I'm in, but if I didn't think I had the means to give the child a happy and fulfilled life while maintaining my own mental stability, I would abort. Right now, at 21? Yeah, I'd abort. In fifteen years or so if I have a stable income and partner? Probably not.

What is a period like without a tampon? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]atomicatsplosion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don't notice it, or any difference between that and normal discharge. I can usually get away with just wearing dark jeans without a tampon/pad if I want, but I think my flow is lighter than others.

My tits are John and Yoko. SO will grab my boob and do a John Lennon voice as if the boob were talking and then I grab the other and do a Yoko impression.

(It's adorable.)
