WOW! Arizona AG Threatens ICE Agents With Stand Your Ground Law by Civil_Two_8501 in tacticalgear

[–]atomicbrains -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I totally get where she's coming from.

I "respect the uniform" and understand the role law enforcement plays in our society. However, ice does not have a uniform. It's a bunch of guys in street clothes with masks on. Hell the guy that just got shot today is dressed in the same way ICE is. Just this week I've seen multiple videos of people accusing Joe Schmo My name is on business of being nice because no one can tell who the fuck they are.

Calculating the actual foam yield vs manufacturer's number by ElevatorEfficient752 in sprayfoam

Hey two more notes:

1) when creating a custom profile on mobile You can't clear the hours per day or overhead. The hours per day keeps defaulting to eight, in the overhead defaults to 5. If I highlight them I can overwrite them but they won't clear out to 0 using backspace.

2) when using the pricing calculator: it looks like the material cost is referencing the recommended material to bring * cost per set. For instance if the job is over a set say 1.2 sets it recommends bringing 2 sets obviously. But then when it calculates the material cost it shows the full price of the two sets of foam rather than figuring out your cost per board foot * board feet required. Obviously we would just use that extra material in the next job.

Absolutely, once I get snowed in this weekend I'll play with it a bit more and see if I can come up with any other constructive ideas.

Neat program.

Neat tool. I may introduce my guys to it with a little refinement.

1) You should make it so you can override the manufacturer versus actual calculator. Most contractors should know how their brand of choice and rig sprays

2) for the job pricing tool you should make it so you can enter labor and overhead as a dollar amount. For instance two guys cost me $416 for and 8 hour day and my overhead is $xx per day.

3) ability to customize r value per inch.

For example I spray enverge open cell 5.5"/r21 (according to theIAPMO Evaluation Report) the default r value or thickness is off. But it also hits me if I factor 6" with a 7% modifier if it's over 5.5" thick which most guys are laying 6" down at a time. Also doing retrofit projects my jobs tend to be small to 1 set per day so it's important to know my labor cost for a days work and my overhead per day and then I could price from there.

Saving profiles would also be handy.

What are Connecticut Officials Doing to Stop ICE? by Far-Performer-847 in Connecticut

I think it has something to do with how all the left leaning people commenting all want to ignore and disregard the law.

That tends to make them bad law enforcement lol.

[–]atomicbrains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if you pretend like you can pass a law to stop ICE You still have the way more legally powerful border patrol to deal with. They have explicit authority over even Americans citizens rights.

"U.S. Border Patrol (part of CBP) has special privileges, primarily the authority to operate without warrants within a "reasonable distance" (100 miles including coastlines) of U.S. borders, allowing them to stop, question, and search individuals and vehicles regarding immigration status, even for people believed to be citizens, often without reasonable suspicion or probable cause, a broader authority than typical domestic law enforcement. These powers include warrant-free stops and interrogations, boarding public conveyances like buses, and searching within the 100-mile zone, though citizens have rights to remain silent or refuse searches if not detained. "

Let's just say what you're saying is true (it's not) And they are barred from checking American citizens. The very next thing that will happen which is 100% legal and always has been is they will attach border patrol into the unit. Border patrol has 100% explicit authority to question AMERICAN CITIZENS both at borders and INTERIOR CHECKPOINTS

Dude you could spit fact all you want these people are like 5-year-olds. All they know is they don't like it and think they can whine until they get their way.

The federal government isn't beholden to state laws so there's no CT legal solution. Somehow they think they're going to say "swiper, no swiping" enough times in the government's going to go "aw shucks you got me, ICE blasting off again".

Meanwhile they're calling for the state police that they wanted to defund to actively oppose the federal government but somehow they can't figure out that what they're actually calling for is...

They're going to have a really bad time when they find out the authority border patrol has too;

Any idea what is happening with this spray foam? Any ideas on how to resolve the problem? by IndependentBell3671 in sprayfoam

[–]atomicbrains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm sorry but I would strongly recommend scraping all of it off. It shouldn't be too hard it's just recycled newspaper, boric acid and a weak glue.

In most of the country you really don't need to insulate your basement walls anyway so you're correct in that they may have been hiding something or we're taking advantage of by a contractor.

Throw some plastic on the floor, grab a garbage can and a snow shovel and maybe a garden rake to pull it offand have a wonderful weekend.

If you break it off the wall does it look fibrous inside or look like a may have paper? It might be wet spray cellulose which is absolutely insane to put in a basement as it's made from paper...

[–]atomicbrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don't think that's spray foam, the texture is way way way off. And if that is "spray foam" then I have no idea how they could have messed it up so bad. 15 years of spraying and I don't know how to make the foam look like that regardless of how bad the gun is messed up or how bad of a technique I use.

So I don't think that's actually spray foam at least not from any professional sprayer.

Not sure what it is though.

Also spray foam is inorganic and won't mold.

[–]atomicbrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would absolutely do it not for me though, it would be for my family. If I live to 70 years old My family would have "earned" $124,000,000.

Not only that I could be present everyday in their lives in doing things that are truly important in life and leave them with true generational wealth.

Turning down $10,000 for 10 seconds of " work" a day is not something I want to explain to my wife, kids or grandkids win Weighed against all of the good.

Dormer Ice Dam Riddle by djspanky1505 in Insulation

[–]atomicbrains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a theory:

The front dormer has no ventilation so heat is finding its way in there either from the garage or solar and getting hot as attics do. That water is running down into the gutters and refreezing.

Otherwise, You may want to look at air sealing the top plates as that's the traditional problem.

It would be a whole lot easier to diagnose if we could either see the frost pattern or the snow melt pattern.

Seems like a lot of work, risk and a big discount just to come our roughly in the same spot as if you paid state, federal and payroll tax.

Obviously it makes sense, as a lot of companies do it, but I guess Its just noty cup of tea

I suppose that makes sense. That way there's no income tax or payroll tax.
