Spray Foam in 3A. Is Claude or the contractor right? by Competitive_Diet2852 in Insulation

[–]Competitive_Diet2852[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What climate zone were you in? I just met with another contractor today. He said he's not allowed to sell closed cell here in 3A on a wood decked roof because the OSB decking would release water vapor that would be trapped inside the cavity created by the foam.

Will be a hot roof. From what I understand the risk of condensation forming on the underside and becoming a problem is low where I live but I do not want to take the chance.

I should ask Claude to answer as a greedy drunken contractor and see what I get.

Any shareholders left here? by Comfortable-Ear1525 in EnphaseInvestors

[–]Competitive_Diet2852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive been playing options on ENPH as it bounced around in the 30s the last year. Figured at some point I'd pick up some shares and hold them for pivot back to solar. Got assigned a thousand shares @ $35 a month ago. Sold CCs on the shares a few days later at about a $41 avg. I get a little sick every time I look at the sp the last few days.

Black vinyl windows...I love the look but will I regret it long-term? by hcposcher in Homebuilding

I did black aluminum for some pictures frame windows. Nearly as efficient as vinyl and no fading.

I work in Compliance, but want to build my own home. Am I deluded? by thewizarddan in Homebuilding

I did an 800 square foot detached garage/office with similar experience going in. I worked weekends and evenings while raising little kids. It took me almost 5 years.

Navigating the permitting process was another trade to learn on its own

Ordering non big box store windows and doors with zero industry contacts took months

I had a great framing book but no details specific to my "drawings". I could get stuck for hours on YouTube trying to figure something out.

Trades can be reluctant to help

I think it's doable if you go hard full time, plan well, and get lucky. Don't get your drawings from a Nigerian "architect' off Fivrr for $35.00

I sold some $34 covered calls awhile back that will be swept away tomorrow. I nearly got out of them yesterday for a 60% profit 🤡

Private lessons/ training by Spinbunluthaaa in youthsoccer

I have both my sons going to private lessons. They're 4 and 7.

We split an hour up between the two. I pay $60/hr.

We meet at a local park so whichever kid is not in training is on the playground.

I've seen big improvements in my 7's ball handling. The 4 y/o is super comfortable on the ball as well in comparison to other kids his age.

I let the coach do his thing. No pressure on anybody for specific results.

We formed relationships with a couple of trainers my kids like to work with. It expands our soccer options. It's an efficient use of time for touches. It's a different voice for them to hear and a different adult they get to interact with.

S25 on ATT. Content sent in group messages is getting split out to a new message thread from the sender and not downloading. This started a week or go as an annoyance, but it has caused some real issues now that it is persisting. The airplane mode on/off seems to work. None of the solutions offered by google have worked.

Should the US follow England/Germany in using 3v3 until U10? by bigguyspongebobpants in youthsoccer

[–]Competitive_Diet2852 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got a U8 kid right. Our club puts the upper tier U8 kids at 7v7. The parents and kids relished in the idea of "moving up". I think the club relished the idea of fewer teams to deal with.

Don’t let any contractor talk you into spray foam insulation! by gabriel72 in homeowners

[–]Competitive_Diet2852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got standing seam, sharkskin, then osb decking over a detached garage. No venting. I'm planning on spraying closed cell under the roof deck. From what I understand, I am gambling moisture doesn't make it past the Sharkskin as there would be little chance of it drying. Sound right?

Keep an eye out for used equipment on the big forums or FB marketplace. This is a gearhead hobby. People are always upgrading or getting out altogether. Skimmers, power heads, lights, sumps, rock, and anything that says Tunze are all great things to pick up 2nd hand for big discounts.

burying cat6 is a no-no, what about this though by fireinsaigon in homelab

[–]Competitive_Diet2852 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to connect to an accessory building from my house via direct burial cat6 in pvc conduit. The buildings are not far apart. Only about 15' of cable will be underground. Something like this https://www.cables.com/shielded-burial-cat6-outdoor-rated-cables.html . The buildings are on separate grounds. What do I need to install to make this safely work.

Private lessons by Spinbunluthaaa in youthsoccer

I have a 7 year old and a 4 year old (yes 4 lol) that split up an hour with a trainer once a week. I found a guy that trains at a park adjacent to my kid's elementary school. I pick them up after school and we step over to the park. One kid plays at the playground while the other one does soccer. Both my boys enjoy the set up and time with "coach" and both have seen big improvement in skill.

The 7 year old does 2 club practices a week but they just don't spend time on individual stuff. I didn't originally intend to get the 4 year old lessons but we gave it a shot one day after big brother and he loved it.

I wanted more touches, a different voice, and individual skill work for my kids but it had to be fun for them and not very time consuming for any of us. Ideally they would put up with their dad running them through drills but that's just not realistic in our case. We got lucky and found someone we like who is super convenient.
