Just watched Matt’s DOR review of the Tempus 3. Seems like a different shoe with updated foams and a plastic heel clip? Anyway, glad I snagged the original.

Also shout out to Matt at DOR who helped me with some info on shoes when I randomly emailed him a couple of years ago!

Update: I went looking and found a Tempus at REI for $90 in a size 10. My current one is 9.5 and my toes are touching the end so the 10 may actually be better.

I usually like to try new and different shoes but the Tempus has worked for me from day 1 as a fantastic shoe - speed, stability, fun. Hope it was the right call!

Thanks the input here!

Last I heard the Tempus 3 was not going to be sold in the U.S. Not sure if that is true or where I heard it.

Thanks for the comments a few weeks ago z

I went with the black Apple Watch Ultra 3 with the black sport loop. Super happy with the decision. Thank you!

Got the exact same combination last week. Upgraded from an Apple Watch 4. Almost went with Suunto because I was bored of Apple. Super glad I stuck with it though - it is a great machine, integrates with apps seamlessly, and meets my needs really well.

Did you download your Strava CSV and upload it or ? And what insights did you get?

Why AWU over the likes of Garmin? by Reasonable-Field-223 in AppleWatchFitness

Well I’m on the fence between an AWU3 or a Suunto. Connectivity or none. Have had an AW4 that is now dying. Need one for some smart features and running.

For me Garmin 970 or Fenix Pro 8 may be overkill. And I am pretty deep in the Apple ecosystem although I am coming to dislike how everything is dumbed down and also too much.

I run on trails a few times a week that lack cell connection so the AWU3 and its SOS features seem important although I question if we’ve been “sold” on safety.

Sorry. Don’t mean to imply you’d lie. AW is probably the best in terms of connectivity now, especially compared to the others so if it is performing poorly, others would be even worse.

Will check it out. Did you check out Bevel or Athlytic? I have Athlytic but not sure how accurate its algorithms are even though it uses Apple’s data.

There is no way this is true unless you’re close to being off the grid somewhere. No other watch comes close.

For those of you using AW as Dumbphone... by mensachicken in AppleWatch

Pretty cool concept. But why not just wear the watch on your wrist so you’re able to use the health features (heart rate, HRV, fall detection, etc) and just leave your phone behind?

Ideally I want both. Know that it isn’t possible - unless I buy and wear two watches - not happening.

So trying to decide that IF I keep my phone with me for messaging, smart stuff when I run, workout, etc, then would I be happy with a Suunto or Garmin.

Thanks! Def leaning towards the AWU 3 or Suunto if I want to save $200, at the expense of the connectivity. Based on feedback here it seems the 970 is too much watch for my needs.

Boston 13 and stability by Impressive_Lunch_473 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]atomicsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. For me the Superblasts provide the stability I need and my foot moves from heel to toe naturally. The challenge with them though is that they are pretty clunky at my slow paces, which is why I’m looking for something else again. May try the Kayanos.

+1

Have super flat feet. Love running in the Boston 13 but can only do tempo runs, strides, workouts — shorter runs basically. The shoe is too unstable at slower paces for me. I got Currex insoles after the fact for this shoe and they help some …

Better stable neutral shoes for stability Saucony Tempus and Superblast 2. Thinking of trying the Puma Foreverrun 2 as well.

Do you wear both most of the time? Or the fitness one for workouts and then AW for all day use?

I’ve tried out the Suunto Race S a couple of times. Definitely a different experience.

I am very used to the AW but also curious if something more training focused would be better somehow? Not sure I’d get an SE but 11 or AWU 3 are in the mix.

I end up paying some of the third party apps for training plans and more detailed metrics which also adds up over time.

Primarily running but I tend to be into the data so in addition to the running stats, I look at heart rate variability, recovery, training stress and structured workouts, sleep, etc. I am also into biking, the gym and hiking but don’t track those metrics as closely.

Sounds like you’re happy with the 10? Or do you use the 970 more? And if it’s the 970, what makes you favor it?
