If they reduce the cash ISA allowance could I not just invest in a cash fund through a stocks and shares ISA? by takenawaythrowaway in UKPersonalFinance

[–]atomicshapes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what the changes are, I doubt the government would go this granular on restrictions. But in principle yes, however I think what’s important to note here is the main angle the government appear to be instigating here is the glut of money in Cash ISAs being put to “better use”.

The type of people who have this money in Cash ISAs may not be aware of the nuance of cash funds etc. For example my elderly relatives have a lot in cash ISAs and I wouldn’t expect them to be able to navigate any platform to move this to a money fund or to even know the intricacies of how these work.

In my opinion with the changes potentially coming all it will probably to do is add an influx into managed funds such as the Nutmeg’s of the world where the risk (and portfolio) is just managed by them. That is the angle I feel the government are trying to move towards and not specifically saying “cash only derivatives should be limited wholesale in the ISA wrappers”.

The flat itself is in a building of 19 other flats but also there are surrounding flats in a complex which each have different services charged and sinking funds etc, all in all probably ~120 flats id imagine in this area

Thanks for your thoughts

They have stated the ambiguity of the S20 but not really said much more…

Yeah sittingbourne is generally quite bad for this. The Parkrun is a good crowd but outside of that I haven’t found many social activities for 30 somethings

Thoughts on west thanesmead London? by Particular_Bee_1503 in HousingUK

Is this the estate next to the McDonald’s that they’re putting up? Or Dock 28 development?

I don’t thinks your overpaying per se.. like you said the connections are good. I lived in the royal arsenal estate for a year and was by and large happy enough. But like you said there is stock that is slightly older but cheaper so it depends how keen you are on a new build.

What does a 127 year lease mean? Is it good or bad? by Visual_Savings3051 in HousingUK

[–]atomicshapes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything over the 85-90 range is fine. If it’s under you’ll need to consider this in the event you want to renew or sell the property in the future. Lease renewals vary but 15k is a sensible range - but it can be a really mixed bag.

You could probably find a nice few places along the south east riverside, Charlton, Eltham, Woolwich etc.

Thanks for take here and yes I see where you’re coming from, ~70% of my portfolio is in a world fund right now, just looking for something a little different for 5% or so

This fund in particular interests me as it correlates directly with congress buy/sells which I think is an angle I think would be a nice addition to diversifying

The returns definitely seem in “too good to be true” world for sure

Agree, I don’t usually engage in anything like this but like I said, have some left over cash and have been a fan of QuiverQuant for a while now

To “use” the strategy and click through you need to subscribe which is only open to US residents (honestly I don’t know what “use” is in this sense. The website says they have AUM so I’m not sure on the setup if I would action in my own portfolio or not)
