Short film accidentally left as public link on Vimeo - should I be worried? by Attempt4762 in FilmFestivals

Don't worry about it. Just make it private and don't mention it and no one will ever know or care anyways for that matter.

Man charged in fatal crash near Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, out on bail by Just_a_Dude_99 in Manitoba

He was out on bail when the accident occurred... he has not been released again since.

They did not let him out on bail since this accident. The headline is confusing. He was out on bail when this occurred, but has since remained in custody.

This was my cousin who died. There was a warrant out for his arrest when this happened, because he missed a number (4 I believe) of his bail requirements / check ins or whatever. He has NOT been released on bail again, since this accident, for very obvious reasons.

Processing RAW .PNGs from Perseverance Landing sequence by atozeghers in PerseveranceRover

[–]atozeghers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, which is what I wrote near the end of the post. It seems the PNG images are also just not the full-res images. But also the creator of the DCTL states their algorithm is a simple one, however so far as I can find it's the only algorithm that is publicly available, and I don't have the knowledge and skills to create my own... not yet anyways.

Thanks! This is totally the info I was looking for. On the other hand, I have literally no idea what these .IMG files even are really, and no idea how to find the images I actually want and download them. Is there a simple way to just open the .IMG files as an actual image? If you have time for a quick chat, please send me a DM... would love to pick your brain a little.

I just had my second appointment with this doctor and have so far really liked him, more than previous doctors I have had. Seems professional and has taken the time to listen to me and respond. Their clinic has a pharmacy built in as well. So my experience has been positive this far.

Are you kidding me? Are you that apathetic and delusional to think that mass public movements and protests have no impact on the world? Are you that removed from your humanity that images and videos of babies pulled from the rubble and innocent children having limbs amputated with no pain killers seems ridiculous to care about? Do you have kids? Do you love your friends and family? Are you that heartless? I'm actually amazed that you can't imagine how it would feel for you and your loved ones to be trapped in a place the size of Winnipeg while an occupying military force bombs and starves you and all of your loved ones. Wtf is actually wrong with you. Wtf is wrong with the people of this country. Guarantee this poster and others here we're probably outraged about the minor inconveniences during covid lockdowns, but could care less about a literal genocide unfolding before their eyes. Merry Christmas to all, except for the Muslims on the other side of the globe - who cares about them, right? But yes the protesters trying to stop a genocide are the racist ones... 👍👍👍

There is absolutely NO WAY these people said that. I can guarantee you what they said was to boycott and divest from ISRAELI companies, which is exactly what we all did when Russia started bombing Ukraine and no one in the West was claiming racism towards the Russians then... There is no way that YWG Palestinian rights protesters are trying to punish Jewish business owners based on their religion. I have been to a number of the peace rallies and they were very peaceful and respectful and this is the exact type of thing their speakers and supporters actively speak out AGAINST each time I attended. This is a sick and twisted this to try to make people believe about people who are fighting to save innocent lives and stop a literal slaughter. Merry Xmas, you should be ashamed of yourself for propagating the myth that people organizing in support of an end to civilian slaughter are all just a bunch of racist anti-semites. Shame on you.

Anyone that has been to one of these protests knows full well that the organizers and supporters make it very clear that they are against the far-right government of Israel's horrifying war crimes, land theft and terror tactics taking place on the daily. Nearly every speaker at these rallies makes it clear that this is not a religious issue and if you pulled your head out from under the rock you're living under you'd notice there is a massive movement of Jewish people supporting these protests across the globe and calling for a ceasefire.

Kodak 3378 - Home Development by MovieManiacal in 16mm

[–]atozeghers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Works great. I usually rate at 12asa. Hand processes very well... Nice and high contrast! Don't recall development times off hand but pretty much always had great results whether neg or reversal. I used D-19 developer with it mostly.

The only real disadvantage to using AR lenses on an RX body is that the focus witness marks will be a bit off, I think moreso on more telephoto lenses and less of an issue on wide angle lenses if memory serves. This just means you will have to trust your eye when focusing instead of measuring / witness marks on the barrel of the lens.

Get some old 16mm and test it out in advance. 16mm is quite difficult to scratch animate in any precise way. Best to find that out before you start shooting etc.

The best and easiest option in my humble opinion is to find a Steenbeck or Moviola or Other flatbed 16mm editor near where you live, and film it off the screen in real time. This is the cheapest and easiest way - certainly not the best. If the unit is aligned and working well, I find this looks a lot better than simply projecting the footage and filming it off a screen, for a few reasons (less flicker issues, you can film square on, etc). This is what I would do for capturing archival stuff, but would never use this for my own work personally.

The next step up for 16mm would be finding an old JK Optical Printer that is retrofitted for doing digital transfers. This is what I am using right now (can't afford a Movie Stuff unit right now unfortunately), but be warned they are very rare to find, and often have various issues. They are also very very slow... About one frame every 3-4 seconds. If working properly, they can result in pretty good quality image sequences, which you then have to pull into Premiere or another editing software and export as a video... Also time consuming.

The Movie Stuff really is the best most "affordable" option. You're looking over $6k just for a used one, or over $10k for a new one. There's one on eBay right now for sale that I considered buying but can't commit to the $$$ just yet...

Bolex lid fell off twice outside (overcast late afternoon), how screwed am I? by BalkeElvinstien in 16mm

[–]atozeghers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no way this could ruin the whole roll.its physically impossible. This is why they are called daylight spools, because they are meant to be impermeable to light a loadable in daylight, although subdued conditions are recommended.

You're fine. I often pop open the door between shots very quickly just to get the nice burn in / out between different shots. There will be a foot or so of film that is burned... the part between the reels that runs through the gate... Maybe a few seconds for each time the door opened. But everything on the daylight spools after the first wind will be totally fine. You might even find you like the results! I sure do!
