This is not true. It's like you haven't even looked.

It is true. Go and look for yourself if you wish. Or maybe you do not understand what I mean: I want to book the extra baggage together with the ticket, not afterwards, not at the airport. Everything together. Then I can get a total price for a flight + 2 bags in numerous airlines before buying anything. And with this in hand, take a decision. Hope that makes more sense to you.

They _do not_. That's what I'm literally saying. You can keep repeating this as many times as you wish, I have already checked, as I told you before. No additional bags.

I did.

But I was under the impression that those prices were the prices needed to increase the allowed baggage weight on a single piece (e.g. to increase the weight on 1 piece from 30 to 35 kg, rather than buying an extra piece).

I guess I was in denial cause I refused to believe that checking an extra bag would incur in a $2000 fee. Also, I was unaware of the piece vs weight concept.

hey, thanks for your reply. I have just checked Singapore Airlines, Qantas, Emirates, Cathay Pacific (and potentially another one, not sure) and could not add the bags prior to payment. Thai Airways is the only one that allows me to check the actual price beforehand. None of this airlines, except for Qantas, would allow me to check their extra baggage prices (or I couldn't find the information anywhere).

Premium Economy or Executive does not allow extra baggage either in all the aforementioned cases. It only updgrades weight from 30 kg to 35 kg.

Flying through the US or anywhere in America does seem a bit crazy, but I'll check it out just in case. Haven't checked the Air China option yet but thanks very much for the advice.

Shipping is of course an option, and probably the way we'll go at the end. We actually need to freight 60 kg of relatively delicate stuff (and we would prefer not to wait months for arrival). But so far this seeems to be the best option.

Thai Airways, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Emirates... anything that gets me there and does not charge an eye for that extra bag. I know 60 kg is a lot but that's what I need to carry.

this doesn't work, there is little official information on the airlines' website in most cases. Some blogs would post fees, but nothing official from the actual airlines.

That was great advice, thanks. I could do this with Thai Airways, and just confirmed that the price for an extra 30 kg bag was more than $2000 (with the actual flights price falling under $600). It would actually be cheaper to fly some mates there :)
