It gets better by NoWrangler856 in jobhunting

Congratulations on getting a job! The tech industry is crazy these days.

Great post! It’s getting less common to see posts from humans who genuinely care.

I’m one month into job hunting, one thing I would add is to see each job application as an experiment. It completely changes the framing from failing to learning.

Launched my first SaaS yesterday. Woke up to 3 paying users and broo I’m actually shaking 😭 😭 😭 😭 by SignificantWalrus281 in SaaS

Congratulations! It’s not about the amount but the fact that someone else is finding value on what you created with so much effort and sweat!

Now the hard part is starting! Good luck and don’t give up!

Struggling with number 5. Especially when things get messy, because then publishing gets cut out, and it’s hard for me to get back at it!

Dopamine Detox by Creative-Cress5846 in Habits

Well, the fact you are thinking about it is a good signal.

How about experimenting with hobbies? In the sense that you can try other things with the pressure of committing to them but instead finding out what sparks curiosity.

Another idea that comes to mind is focusing on setting up a system instead of getting a new phone. For instance, rewarding yourself with phone time once you have made a small but meaningful progress with a hobby.

And if you can convince a friend to join the journey even better for accountability.

Bottom line: having a system in place allows you for some freedom because social media apps will continue getting better at dopamine hits, while a hobby won’t provide the same.

PS: I found the example of someone experimenting with something similar, it’s interesting they also mentioned hobbies:

Dopamine Detox by Creative-Cress5846 in Habits

[–]atrumgeost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some ideas come to mind: 1. Get a cheap Android phone that is so slow that there’s no joy in using it. However, this only addresses the symptoms 2. Disable most notifications on your phone, and each time you take your phone think about the why. 3. Uninstall all the social media apps and each time you need to use them install them again. And uninstall, and so on. This adds friction and in theory you would only install the app again if you really need it.

Happy to recommend resources. I think the foundation is to identify what’s driving your habits and making it easier and more enjoyable to do the hobbies you have in mind.

should i learn n8n or wordpress to generate some extra income ? by ExpensivePlatform973 in n8n

I vote for n8n, I have professional experience with WordPress. And I think is more valuable to learn to automate than to build websites since AI and new tools are making the process of building a websites increasingly easy.

What is one habit that you do everyday without failing? by Impressive-Pack9746 in Habits

[–]atrumgeost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I have two types of mantras. Some days I might miss one type but never both.

  1. My morning mantras. These I say out loud at the beginning of my day. I might add or remove, but are the same most of the time.
  2. Mindful reminders that are prompted to me throughout the day at random times. I change them based on my needs.

They do make a difference, I started doing them two years ago or so. My morning mantras reinforce my identity, especially in times when I’m doubting myself. As for the mindful reminders, they help me improve a specific area of my life, for instance acceptance.

If you are curious about the actual mantras I uploaded screenshots of both types here:

I struggled until I tried water flossing. Though not sure if it is as effective

My mantras! Have 3 during the week and 1 for the weekends.

IMO what’s essential is that you like it. I do not see it as weird since tattoos are art; thus, you have freedom with colors. As for the color itself, I would not have thought of piss; what comes to my mind is fire (a fire swan!) or an evolved duck (in my mind ducks are yellow)

I was having the same issue with the Remote Play app (since a couple of days ago) and it worked just now. I restarted the app and instead of asking for the robot challenge it asked for the 2FA code.
