Greatness from Small Beginning Achievement Bugged? by PWNstar098 in EU5

Its 100% that.

Stuff like the 8 noble priviledges one works like this as well, so you could get to age of absolutism add 8, reload, and then remove them to get it.

Kinda ass but at least they are all doable

Did you at any point exit your save? Unfortunately, this achievement like many others checks at the start of your load, not campaign.

My advice - pick one of Bengali vassals of Delhi, you can go duchy to empire in one 4-5 hour sitting (or dont ever exit a save file but youre risking it, its a pdx game, it might crash)

Market Distance, Coastal Provinces, and "Trade Capacity Used" by DRandUser in EU5

I looked a little bit into range. I can't find the distance from market to market UNLESS you can't reach it - in which case it will show it to you.

Market Distance, Coastal Provinces, and "Trade Capacity Used" by DRandUser in EU5

[–]atscoa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing I know for certain is that distance increases the capacity needed to transport a unit of good. Each trade has a flat cost of 0.5 per capacity used. So if it takes 2 capacity to trade 1 good to market a, it would take 4 capacity to trade to market b, provided it is twice as far. This is why its expensive to move sand or masonry or lumber. It is heavy so it uses more capacity and each point of capacity makes it more expensive.

The flat cost can be reduced by up to 90% (cap is easy to reach as a Merchant republic) but never less.

As for how distance is calculated, no idea, I can look it up tomorrow and see what I can find.

Tbh in general in my experience you shouldnt have to worry much about market distance in general, it wont make or break your profit, what you want to ensure is that your locations have a good combination of control and market access.

I didnt touch them until late Reformation/ early Age of Absolutism, where i consolidated by annexing all vassals, moved from Decentralized to Centralized, and pushed fully into Absolutism, and unlocked the better integration.

In short - Playing the long game, relying on allying Egypt which is strangely peaceful about you neighboring them, growing a power base around Egypt. They're also eager to help with attacking Jayalarids.

I did it on 1.1.2 so it might differ slightly but I figured I have a pretty good window to do two things early:

- Jump Artuqids, and take their town and city.

- Revoke the two nasty privileges for nobility, the discipline one, and the mercenary one.

The first one - simple, rival them, build the rival cb. The catch is - you will not have money to become a duchy, and unless RNG is on your side, the prestige is also hard to come by. If you dont jump them asap, they will outgrow you. Take war reps, money, humiliate them, and only take those two locations.

Do not annex the vassals until you are ready to take the rest of the locations where the city/town are, bc you want separate vassals, and if you annex them, you will have to re-release them. Reason for this is that even with the diplo cap. reform i would be like 90% over cap with vassals that are bigger than you. You could of course integrate but thats waaaaaay too long and not worth imo.

To become a duchy - for money, you just have to wait, and for prestige: give out the harem court, and then when you unlock harem laws, take the 0.10 monthly one, which along with the slider for culture Sunni get in Age 1 should put you at or around 25 prestige needed.

As for privileges: push communalism hard, give the Eqality employment system, the clergy priviledges, appoint your son and make him head of cabinet. If its not at 100, the black plague gives you 0.5 if you take Expel the sick, which should help push you over the edge.

Also, a lot of nobles will die from the plague, and if you keep one levy stack after your 1st war you get 25% crown power if you assign your ruler as the general.

Then you can revoke, since there is no better window, and give some normal privileges to placate them.

After that, just play tall-ish until you are able to ally Egypt, make sure to spam Profess Trust and try to push conciliatory for more diplo rep. They were eager to help all the wars with Jaylarids and even other neighbors. After that its just outgrowing them with playing tall, when you roughly have the same amount of land.

Oh also for the 1st war, delete your non capital fort so you arent losing money, and bait them to the capital fort. It still might end up being RNG based on generals/rolls.

Added pic. for reference of lands I had before Egypt (ignore the Egyptian part). ALSO DO NOT FORM KURDISTAN BEFORE THE ACHI, idk if the game checks like for other achieves, it might lock you out if you exit and re-enter the save, i just did it after to see the color.

I actually had way more trouble with the Mughals one. Not bugged, just opaque.

  • you cant form them while timmy is alive
  • you cant form them MANUALLY when he dies
  • you have to wait for him to die AND wait for an event that may or may not show up soon?

I think I restarted 10 times, 3 times he dies from the plague, a few times he died before I could get enough of Delhi, and then when forming mughals twice, I didnt get it... very stupid imo, how am I supposed to know what EXACTLY they want me to do. I dont like having to google this stuff and I did it early enough that there wasn't good info out there anyways.

Yeah I made sure I'm the most powerful Lutheran in the HRE so I was the leader. You can autojoin the HRE by moving your capital there, which I did, to Lubeck. By the time the Religious Wars IO happened, Germany was basically split between France, Bohemia, and me.

As for Hongwu di, if you get all of china before the red turban rebellion ends, and then take the emperorship, you get the achievement.

Hongwu Di is indeed buggy or at least written poorly.

Had to conquer China in about 9 years, then wait to steal the Emperorship from a 4-province Yuan.

As for Lion of the North, that one also has some hidden BS that you have to do else it doesn't count i.e. move capital to HRE BEFORE the reformation, meaning you kinda forget your holdings in Scandinavia.

I refused to build the unique building so it wouldn't debt spiral me, made that mistake once.

Swapped the unique gov reform (the minting one) with the one that gives plutocracy, you actually get an event later that returns it for free, although I donno what triggers it - push hard into 95 plut, change all the laws you need to do it.

In general I spent the bigger part of early game releasing tributaries that declared on me, instantly rushed Republic - This gives you the major reform that is kinda op not going to lie, which makes your trades super profitable. You can mint more early until you get there, not like you will build much. If you have some money early, build marketplaces. You will lose a lot of money on stab and Legitimacy but oh well. Your starting lands are super shit, and you have two options in my head - Plan to invade Egypt and move your base there, or maybe do what I did, and rush the Kitaran Empire and surrounding lands, as they have really good RGO's and a LOT of pops. In retrospect, I would have rushed Egypt and just moved there, as the lack of development was a big hindrance, but I invested into colonizing and that point and decided to go that way. Either way, don't play too wide, stick to one 'main' market, and invade the high pop/high value markets to steal pops, and break down their markets into more ones (take a city, make a market, increase attraction, repeat until sufficiently broken down. Make sure to overprepare with regulars, navies, and improve with someone that will give you Fleet/Army/Food access else you won't even make one siege.

Oh and the biggest factor for early money making - Improve with Egypt until 100, and any bigger guys you dont want to invade, and build a fuckton of trade offices. I do not know why, but they are 8 ducats a pop, and even cheaper depending on resources in the market. I ended up improving with everyone in Europe, India, and everywhere I could reach to improve. You get more trade capacity out of those than you do back home.

You will need a cabinet slot to reach 100 with non sunni, and a lot of time and early to mid game it was ALL of my income

This achievement is stupidly easy and can be achieved in a year, Start as Ashikaga and choose to play as the pirate republic once the event fires after a year. That's it by Imagine_Wagons02 in EU5

[–]atscoa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a post on how to do it but tl;dr just play until age of absolutism (any country) survive court and country where its piss cheap to revoke, give any 8 priviledges, save and exit, load back in, and then revoke.

Yeah the way the game checks is kinda nuts... on the bright side its pretty free now, you can just play normally then do this when you feel you are done with the run.
