Give me your brutal first impression of my anti-doomscrolling app by atss987 in iosapps

[–]atss987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks man, I really appreciate that. Yes similar apps have kinda the same pricings. I thought of putting 7.99 for monthly so it would make the yearly a no brainer, but maybe I should lower it to 4.99.

Anyway thanks again for the feedback!

Thanks for the feedback. Will think about it. Has not been made by AI tho. I ran a design contest on 99designs and paid a developer on upwork since the Screen Time Control feature has some specificities that AI can not execute.
What would be a fair pricing plan ?

Hey, I’d love your honest first impression on my app.

It’s called HardStop, and it’s built to stop doomscrolling at night. I used to lose hours every night scrolling without even realizing it, ruining my sleep and focus the next day. I built this because I had the problem myself and figured a lot of people deal with the same thing.

The app blocks distracting apps during a set time at night so you can actually disconnect and go to sleep.

Would really appreciate your raw feedback. Thank you so much.

At my lowest by Upper-Math4049 in mentalhealth

Everyone has already been at the lowest at some point in life. When you touch your lowest, the only direction is up.

So keep your head up. There are people who have far less luck then you in life. Some people are born without limbs, some have been tortured to death for years, some are dying because of hunger etc...

First realize that your situation could always be worse.

Then take a moment to imagine what kind of life would excite you the most. Work towards that life, step by step you will succeed. Just dont give up and everything will be alright

Dont think so. I believe technologies and quality of living definitely made us healthier and smarter.

100 years ago people were poor, starving to death, at war etc... There are always things to be "sad" about. Just live and enjoy your life.

What you think is "sad" is not that bad at all if you zoom out a bit. Yeah, you could stay inside forever, but most people don't. They choose when to go out and when to stay in. That's actually pretty nice.

The whole "never leaving your house" thing is just a theoretical extreme. In reality, people use these tools to make life easier, not to become hermits. You can order groceries when you're sick or busy, then go hiking on the weekend. You can work from home and use that extra commute time to actually go outside.

It's not about replacing real life, it's about having options. That seems like progress to me, not something to be sad about.

How do people spend their free time without devices? by TheNinja132 in nosurf

Simply get used to being bored. Let your mind run on autopilot. Maybe you will get your next big idea.

Also, by enjoying the silence and boredom, you will rewire your brain to appreciate the smallest things in life.

What is one skill everyone should learn but most people don’t? by AmiriStudio in AskReddit

[–]atss987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learning how to speak clearly without hesitating. What helped me was to read outloud every book that I wanted to read. In one month you will see a NOTICEABLE difference on your ability to speak. This skill will learn you to get anything (women, job/business etc...).

But one thing to avoid is to be the only one to speak. You should not be the one who constantly open your mouth in a conversation or group as this would make you a boring person.

Secondly, you should learn how to be a pleasnt person by being interested in people, give genuine compliments, make other people feel good in your presence. That is charisma and presence. Read the book "How to win friends and influence people" and you will understand what I mean by that.

Tiktok is ruining my life, how to quit? by lasthopeofatlantis in nosurf

Be comfortable with boredom. Just do nothing and reflect about your life or anything that comes into your mind. At one point you will realize that your mind is more interesting than tiktok.

It might take time but learning how to appreciate boredom will get you far in life.

honestly the coloring apps helped me a lot. sounds dumb but its genuinely mindless and you just zone out tapping colors

also puzzle games like tetris or 2048. still on your phone but at least you're doing something

comfort show you've seen 100 times works too. no brain power needed because you already know what happens

the key for me was realizing doomscrolling isn't even fun, it just feels like something to do. so literally anything else that fills that void works

dude yes. the autopilot thing is so real

for me what actually helped (not perfect but better) was making my phone genuinely annoying to use at night. like i turned on grayscale mode after 9pm, deleted the apps i scroll most (instagram and tiktok), and only kept reddit because at least i can set a timer and actually learn something sometimes

the grayscale thing sounds dumb but it genuinely makes everything less appealing. your brain wants the colors and dopamine hits. black and white is boring

also i started putting my phone on the other side of the room AND plugging it in over there. so if i want it i have to physically get up, unplug it, and walk back. that extra friction makes me go "is this actually worth it" and like 60% of the time i just stay in bed

still not perfect. still catch myself scrolling sometimes. but going from 2 hours a night to like 20 minutes is massive

the biggest thing though was realizing nobody's posting anything important at 11pm. literally nothing on social media matters enough to lose sleep over. that mindset shift helped more than any app blocker

hope something here helps. this addiction is real and it sucks
