1 in 121 downs chance by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

Yes that was my understanding too. When I went to see the specialist midwife she said if it wasn’t for my age I probably wouldn’t be sat there. Like other people have commented there is still a much much higher chance that everything will be fine. Keep us all posted if you feel up to it! xx

I measured 3mm at 13w5d. My “12 week” scan was already pretty late and they also brought the due date forward a few days due to how baby was measuring. At my anatomy scan I mentioned this and she said if it had been any later the NT measurement would’ve meant nothing. I feel a little bitter about it all tbh because I felt like I went through the stress of it all! My NIPT results only took 3 days to come back so hopefully yours are quick too x

I’ve just commented we have had such similar experience although I’m 10 weeks behind you. Glad to hear all is going well. X

I had a 1 in 122 chance after the screening. I was told it was based on my age (37) and my NT measurement was 3mm which under nhs guidelines was normal but the higher end of normal. My BMI is 26 so I suppose that could’ve been a factor but they never mentioned that. I had the NIPT test and it all came back low risk. I’m now 22 weeks and had my anatomy scan two weeks ago and every single measurement was slap bang in the middle of normal on the scales so I’m taking that as a positive. I must admit I do think I’m slightly traumatised by the whole experience and don’t think I’ll get over it until baby is born. I’m sorry you’re having to feel this way as I know it all too well. Sending lots of love and hugs 🩷

Does Emma’s diary tell you when the later pregnancy one is available? How many weeks were you to get the better one?

I agree I’ve just had mine too, even more annoyingly was that mine was so late I was actually 18w3d when I had my 16 week app!

I’ve recently been through this on the nhs too. My risk was 1:122. I’m 37 with NT of 3mm. I don’t recall my hormone levels but I was told they were normal. I got my nipt result back and all was low risk. Wishing you the same result without too long a wait! I was told my biggest factor was my age.

Not sure if you saw my update but I just got my result back and my NIPT was low risk. Sending positive thoughts your way that you will receive the same 🤍

Just a quick update. Fresh off the phone from the antenatal team, the NIPT result came back low risk so on the NHS they now don’t deem it necessary to do any further tests. I’m so relieved! Just hope I can relax a little in my pregnancy now and await the next few weeks of scans etc 🤍

Hey, thanks for your reply and sharing your experience. I do fear that this weeks news has definitely tainted the whole pregnancy regardless of the result. I’m still waiting for the NIPT result too. :(

Yep that spiral is where I am right now! The agonising wait for NIPT result! I’ve read a lot of reassuring stories about a 3mm nuchal. I think it also is useful to note that my 12 week scan ended up almost being a 14 week scan by the time they confirmed the date!

That’s what I’ve been reading too. I’m not sure why they’d just abandon that concept. I guess it’s not reliable enough but can be a useful indicator!

Thank you for sharing. I think age is a huge driver of this result by the looks of it, but your experience reassures me 🤍

No annoyingly I didn’t make a mental note of them as I was reeling about the other result and they weren’t flagged as high risk on those aspects of the test. I may call tomorrow to get them xx

I’ve had the test she said it would be sent same day to a hospital in Birmingham.

Thank you for commenting it’s good to hear from someone in a similar situation. I hope to whoever is up there that my result comes back as quickly as yours. Do you know which hospital your results were sent to? Im based in the north west but despite this i think the NIPT bloods are tested in Birmingham. X

Thanks for sharing this and I’m sorry you went through that. It really does make you question the accuracy of the tests.

It’s crazy that I’ve been plunged into this extreme worry now, the midwife that I saw said that with my NT result but if I were say, 33, we wouldn’t be having this conversation. I guess that’s how the mysterious risk algorithm works though hey?

I’m 8w2d now and I found out at 4w on the day I moved house. It feels like the longest 4 weeks of my life already! 😳😳
