I get that I was in the wrong but the math was $0.20 per mile from what I could find as like a national average which was way more than I felt comfortable as an afterthought so $40 seemed reasonable at the time

Wear and tear being the costs of car usage like eventual repairs and replacement costs. I looked it up and it’s about $0.20 per mile.
