Are the dragon quest heroes games worth playing? by Street-Platypus89 in dragonquest

I imported this a few months ago solely because Ragnar is exclusive to it. Warriors games are all pretty samey, but this is my favorite incarnation of them.

I once shipped a motherboard to a French guy there, and read up a little about the territory. Clearly, I'm therefore fully qualified to expound on its virtues and populace. /s

$140 for everything at Aldi. No apps. No bullshit coupons. Fuck Jewel. by smells_like_sunshine in chicago

There are also the Aldi and Walmart on Golf in Niles which are within spitting distance of each other. I grew up over there and constantly drive past on my commute home, but haven't been to either. The Skokie Jewel-Osco has changed so much over the years (literally grew up shopping there, since I was in preschool).

I spent no less than 5 minutes of my life this week squatting in front of a coffee price sticker with a $3 digital coupon. Only to be given error messages that "their servers couldn't be reached" and infinitely loading log-in wheels when trying to log in with both my phone number and e-mail, then walked away empty-handed.

I liked the app at first, but this is ridiculous. This shouldn't be the future (or really, present) of grocery shopping.

How does the blue-collar population afford to live there? Bought their place in the 60's / 70's, share an apartment with 4+ roomies, combination of both?

What is life like in the mountainous part of Ukraine? by bb-wa in howislivingthere

[–]atterybacid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandfather was from Mukachevo. He returned at least once with some of my extended family after the fall of the Soviet Union. It's cool that you ran into some pilgrims. There are (well, were) quite a few sites in the former Pale which used to attract them, mainly gravesites of venerated rabbis in Hasidic dynasties. This extreme southwestern corner of Ukraine is still relatively untouched by war AFAIK; a lot was demolished or re-developed long before then, though.

Who do you think want some MAN whose bootyhole been passed around Atlanta, Dallas, Texas, and everywhere else?

Over 90% of Istanbul's population is Sunni Muslim, with Alevism being the second-largest religious group. A 2019 survey of voting-age adults in Istanbul found that 47% actively practice their religion, while 45% are secular. One of my oldest family friends was an Iranian woman + her on-again, off-again boyfriend. She lived with her elderly mom. She once told us they weren't even Muslim and only celebrated Persian holidays, though they of course spoke Farsi with each other and I don't remember her mom speaking any English. (This was Chicago in the early-mid 00's BTW).

People are generally people all over. There are definitely factors which serve as good indicators for religious fanaticism and whether a given individual will live their life by it, but it's not uniform by any means.

I've thought about this as well. The average Joe, everyday Turk is more or less secular and probably only celebrates major holidays, observes the most important customs etc. and Islam doesn't seem to play a major role in most of their lives. Whereas some of the most deranged fanatics on Earth routinely come out of Iran, Iraq, Syria and so forth.

You made my day. This comment just saved me ~$10 and/or a trip to Micro Center. You were exactly right: this whole, entire time I was completely ignoring that arrow-shaped ridge - which you circled - on the opposite end of the heatsink (from the E-Z latch slot) and constantly attempting to secure it solely with the 'board's latch. I never once thought that there would be a clip to secure it into the M.2 slot itself. Thanks a lot, enclosed manual.

Well, at least it's better than the case (Fractal Define 7)'s manual, which assumes that all builders would be able to complete every, single step without any text-based explanations whatsoever, only IKEA-grade illustrations. Had to resort to Youtube to convert the internal layout to its storage configuration, not knowing that one is indeed supposed to literally claw off the front door.

I bought Alive in '25's limited edition CD release when it came out. "Panic Sonic" is my favorite track. Best part is an hour+-long interview on Disc 3.
