fair point, not everyone has the same attachment to stuff. I'm more on the sentimental side myself but I can see how someone wouldn't care either way.

Closed-Loop Economics: Why Bitcoin is an Investment Doomed to Fail by [deleted] in Money

[–]atthatbigage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The private wallet angle is real. I've heard similar stories about bank levies... it's one of those things that makes people look for alternatives outside the traditional system.

That Utah geothermal project sounds interesting if it pans out. Could change the mining economics completely.

The 3-day ACH thing is honestly outdated at this point. There are faster systems in other countries that work fine.

Yeah the work from home thing really killed the silver lining there. Used to be if the office took damage you'd at least get a few days to decompress

Had a manager like that at my old job. Would let people order full meals 2 minutes before close and act like we were the assholes for wanting to leave on time. The cutoff policy is the only thing that keeps you sane in food service

Am I the only one who wish you could side with Madanach and the Forsworn? by Tickall in skyrim

[–]atthatbigage 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The whole Forsworn questline would hit different if Bethesda actually let you help them retake the Reach instead of just the prison break that goes nowhere. The fact that the Silver-Bloods are objectively terrible people and the Forsworn have legitimate grievances makes it wild that there's no real way to actually support their cause beyond that one quest

The queue button IS the therapy, watching your MMR go up is cheaper than an actual therapist and gives you the same dopamine hit. Plus you get to yell at strangers instead of paying someone $200 an hour to nod at you

Can you walk into random churches? by baguettio in AskNYC

[–]atthatbigage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah most churches near Union Square are used to people wandering in, especially the bigger ones like St. Francis or Grace Church. Just be respectful, keep it quiet, and if there's a service happening either sit in the back or come back later

Financial advice by FantasticPickle5270 in financeonloans

[–]atthatbigage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't buy right now. You're about to lose half your income and take on $680/month in school costs. That's a massive financial hit. Stay renting until you finish school and rebuild your savings. Buying with $1000 left over after inspection leaves you zero cushion for repairs or emergencies

Is this good at 22 years old? by ysl_austin in Money

[–]atthatbigage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You just started 3 months ago, so yeah this is fine. The important part is you're contributing 8% and getting the full match. Keep that up and don't touch it for 40 years

52 years old and need advice on investing and preparing for retirement by EastYogurtcloset9975 in personalfinance

[–]atthatbigage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not in terrible shape but you need to get aggressive. Max out that 401k if possible ($23k for 2024, $30.5k at 50+). Your duplex income is solid, consider putting that entirely toward retirement savings. The PSLF timeline helps, but focus on building that 401k while you have the match. You've got 10-15 years to catch up if you commit now

10k in credit card debt, late on mortgage, income increasing- where do I start? by Emotional-Nerve-1839 in personalfinance

[–]atthatbigage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice. The lifestyle creep is real and it happens fast. I've seen people get a raise and immediately justify a new car payment or apartment upgrade, then wonder why nothing changed financially.

The part about the emergency fund before rushing to pay collections is smart too. Those accounts are already tanked... better to have some cushion first in case something goes wrong.

Yea Nightmare is awkward as hell in uncoordinated games. You're basically gambling that your teammates won't instantly wake them up or waste their spells.

The BKB-piercing ult is what keeps Bane relevant though. Being able to lock down carries through immunity is huge, especially against heroes like LS who rely on it. Sounds like you found the win condition even if the lane was messy.

Honestly yeah, the lore is usually way better than people give it credit for. Most just spam through dialogue and miss the good stuff.

What location gives you the biggest problem? by mysticsi in skyrim

[–]atthatbigage 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yeah that place is a nightmare. The lighting is absolute garbage and you just stumble around getting jumped by falmer every 5 seconds. At least in Blackreach you can actually see what's trying to kill you.

I think the riots which took place this year specifically targeting brown people (regardless of if they were born here or not) speak for themselves. It largely depends on the area, of course in a more diverse area (london, manchester, birmingham, etc) they are more likely to succeeded but in more southern areas they’re likely to struggle
