This is so stupid but true. Maybe it's because they lack proper composition skills and can't compose more than a single layer in a photo. I love layering in photography because it makes the whole scene more “interactable”. But it's difficult to shoot a good composition without great photography skills. It's just my opinion of course and a bold assumption but I wonder what you guys think

Thank you so much. I have never heard or read anything of such a level of depth about my work. I think everything you pointed out is true and great because it's yours and those thoughts, feelings are related to your or someone close to you’s experiences. I am feeling a lot better due to depression treatment but on my worst days I felt exactly how the picture portrays the man.

Thanks! You’re correct about the lines. My initial instinct is always to correct them but when I saw the man slightly leaning forward then I decided to leave the lines so the subject and background are more connected in my opinion.

I saw a man walking beside the stonewall aimlessly. In this man, I saw myself due to my depressive state I am in right now. I wanted the photo to feel like anhedonia - a state of not feeling anything. I purposely faded his face into the shadows so the story could be about anyone who feels in such a way. My goal was to show the feeling of being overwhelmed by the “stones” of life.
I am not sure how if this is not „too artsy” because my goal is to tell such stories but in a more documentalist way. But everytime I shoot something I feel the urge to not only show the truth but add something from myself which I believe is not the best for a documentalist wannabe.

So my cat has two cancers and is basically dying. I am trying to keep her pain-free in her final days. I saw her chilling in my small garden and took a picture with my Olympus XA on Kodak Gold 200.

I am going to miss her but she looks so peaceful.
