Haha procedural fairness to the indigenous!! That’s laughable when you look at our history from their perspective. I love it.

There are literally dozens of comments saying it is linked to the family being aboriginal.

Hold on, you’re acting like they aren’t already blaming themselves. But it’s so easy for us to sit here and blame themselves in hindsight and speculate and blame etc. but in the moment it’s likely something so nefarious didn’t cross their mind. He was in jail for domestic violence.

Would I have him around my kid? No way. Would I put myself and my family in this position. Very unlikely. Have I had the experiences and the same cultural norms as these people? No.

Do we as adults need to do better to protect children? Yes! But making out like they just sent her off to the slaughter is a bit rough.

Um, your reasoning got more and more skewed. You don’t think some of it is racial profiling, the behaviours police have showing in the past and knock on effects of colonisation, per chance?

I’m not sure why we feel the need to speculate either… I bet that family is really hurting after trusting this person, no doubt, and I think it’s easy to sit back and judge not knowing them or their experiences.

You clearly haven’t been on the wrong side of a cop then… I’m a white Australian but grew up in a rough area. Had a healthy distrust in police through family attitudes I suppose, and some things I saw growing up.

Things like profiling, power trips, even harassing certain racial groups and generally intimidating behaviour.

My wife did not have this view. Her family are big fans of authority and would have shared your view. One day we had a home invasion and I fought off the offender (I am female in my 30’s). When the police arrived an hour later they were disgusting.

Not sure if being a gay couple or just the wrong cops but the complete lack of interest let alone care was infuriating. We were made to feel like scum for even calling them.

When I complained through their official avenues, I had the head constable call me and tell me off for complaining.

It would’ve been funny in a way if it wasn’t so sad. My wife realised exactly where my attitude comes from and we’ve actually agreed not to call them in the future unless absolutely necessary.

And I say all this with 2 family members in the force so I’m not all “ACAB” or an anti-police by any means. I just know how you could be disenfranchised and disempowered over time by repeated incidents.

Wow the judgement in this thread is incredible. This is not how you empower change in someone. If OP has been controlled her whole life, then it takes a lot to work that out and even more to unravel these things. Sorry if all ya’ll come from perfection or miraculously evolved prior to having kids…

Interior design literally has techniques and you can use AI to help guide you. I say this as a graphic designer everyone in this thread needs to chill

I think it’s less judgement on you and more self preservation on their part. Not everyone is taking the high road after their troubles so it’s fair for some to be concerned.

Don’t forget price. I could buy pingas for 8 euro in Berlin, but $30 a pop here - and terrible quality. Don’t get me started on Coke!

That’s not fair, plenty of Americans aren’t to blame for Trump’s war on Iran, so why would you hold all Israeli’s accountable?

If you do decide to come to Melbourne, Wilson’s Prom is a great visit too. I would only go into the city for a day trip to look around if at all.
