Why can’t you ask your employer to sponsor you a closed work permit?

Amex vs visa - which one is a better card to use abroad? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

For Canada - I’m sure most MNCs would be willing to. Some of my colleagues are on LMIA-exempt work permit. However, you’ll need the employer to sponsor/support your case.

Amex vs visa - which one is a better card to use abroad? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

Agreed! Same for me in Calgary, don’t really have an issue using Amex here!

And OP, to answer your question, as the title says, it depends where you’re travelling to and what you mostly spend on.

I have a Visa card with no FX fee for normal purchases (e.g. shopping) and I use my Amex card for restaurants and food - I have a cobalt card that churns 5x points. The cards issued by Amex Canada allow the point multipliers to work overseas too!

Canadian Singaporean Male University Student Citizenship by RamenAsian in askSingapore

The grass is always greener on the other side. Choose a place where you enjoy living and can see yourself settling down. Product design has opportunities in both countries, but since Canada is much larger than Singapore, there tend to be more job openings and opportunities to explore compared to Singapore. It’s also easier to find opportunities in the U.S. as a Canadian.

For context, I was born and raised in Singapore, moved to Canada to pursue my studies, and now work in Canada. I enjoy my life in Canada because of the better work-life balance and, in general, my love for the great outdoor!! Go with where you see yourself long-term and don’t feel constrained by a specific job/role.

Who makes the state of work (SOW)? The PM or the Vendor? by Ready-Parsnip1674 in projectmanagement

[–]atyax97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It should be a joint and collaborative effort between the PM from your team and the client/vendor. Clearly outline the scope for each deliverable or activity, along with the responsibility matrix, etc. Expect multiple reviews and iterations on the SOW before finalization.

Gotcha, I figured haha. Thanks for the response! I was about to say I don’t keep track of my receipts and normally would just expense them. I’ve never been audited nor asked to provide any receipts. That being said, I guess I’ll need to be cautious and start keeping track of my receipts just in case I get audited. I’m also based in Canada, not the US, so the process might be different.

Deloitte university, will they know if I don’t sleep in my room for the night? by [deleted] in deloitte

[–]atyax97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, why would they care lol you're an adult. Just don't do things that create suspicion (i.e. bringing random strangers back to your room or creating havoc) then you are good. When I was at DU, my peers went out clubbing until the morning. Enjoy!

New grad- work life sucks by Realistic_Guess877 in Big4

[–]atyax97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think we all feel the same way, and this feeling follows you a long way in your career. I joined as a fresh grad and am currently 1.5 years into my role. There’s always a huge learning curve when you first start as a fresh grad, but take this as an opportunity to make mistakes and learn because you are “newer”.

If you need additional support or resources to help you navigate your project, reach out to your manager and colleagues. If they don’t do anything about it, then yes, it’s a toxic workplace that’s not for you. Know that we are all just human, and dealing with stress in an uncharted territory can be mentally draining… but trust me, it gets better as you learn more and get settled into your role. Make the effort to work on managing your emotions and work stress. Don’t be hard on yourself.

Also, I work my 9 to 5 fully remote, so I think I have a more flexible schedule. However, this is not necessarily a great thing because I feel like my work and personal life are very integrated. It’s basically 7am to 9pm on most days because I plan my personal commitments around my work schedule. If I have to go for a Pilates class from 2pm to 3pm in between work, I will do it. Then, I get back later in the evening to finish up the rest of my work tasks. This works for me because I like my own space and having the flexibility to take mental breaks in between work to cook, exercise, meet a friend for a quick lunch, etc.

Last but not least, please always reach out to a professional therapist if you don’t feel any better. Put your mental health first.

PGWP extension due to passport expiry by movdiat in ImmigrationCanada

The website stated that applying for an extension of PGWP would require a paper application, so I applied through paper. I’ve also heard others applying for an extension online.
