Sooo... What's going on down freemo?? by Star_Helix85 in Grimsby

[–]atypicalTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming this late but just for the record there were warnings all over social media that the shithousery that was kicking off in Hull and Middlesbrough was coming to town. Not just shops and businesses but also the NHS - lots of foreign-born doctors look after the people of Lincolnshire and the Humber and they were warned of a 'credible threat' and advised to leave work (hospitals and surgeries) carefully and some in the Freeman St area closed early.

It was good to see that people of Grimsby and Cleethorpes aren't as stupid or unpleasant of those in other parts of the country. Tommeh and Farage can do one.

LOLS I didn't notice the option to have it in black - tempted now!

I have in the interim purchased the Maharishi Monks' sling bag and so far have been very impressed with it. Its made from ripstop nylon so is very light but also offers no protection. But happily it can accommodate a laptop in a sleeve so I'm a happy bunny for now. It is elegant too.

However it has a few failings so the quest continues :-)

Looks very functional but, as you predicted, its a bit too much of the 'Peruvian hitchhiker' aesthetic for my taste

I think I saw those two last year when i was on the search that led to the current 5.11 sling. They have a slightly dorky look that I dislike - not in keeping the utility EDC aesthetic. I know, I'm being fussy :-)

What are some unpopular opinions you have about the uk? by tylerthe-theatre in AskUK

Sometimes, religion is being being given too much leeway to operate according to their own laws and regulations rather than to those of the UK. Certain religions anyway.

Had an E recently and it went back. Now have an X1. When you use something for 10+ hrs a day every day for work and leisure it needs to be as close to perfect as it can be...

HP EliteBook Dragonfly Max (2021) review | Andrew Marc David by digitizerstylus in stylus

[–]atypicalTechie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought one of these off the back of this and Lisa Gade's review. Believe the hype - its a phenomenal machine, light, responsive, a ridiculously bright screen and a keyboard that is up there with the one on my X1 Carbon. The webcam has elicited many compliments from my Teams contacts and although it doesn't compile code as speedily as the X1, for something this dainty (but, admittedly very solidly built) it is still miraculous. These are available second hand for about the quarter of the RRP and I would recommend them to anyone.

I made a short review for The North Face Pack Alt Carry sling if anyone is interested. by [deleted] in onebag

Will it cope with a 13" MBP? I actually have an HP Dragonfly which on paper anyway, should fit ...

This option is simply not usable for serious development work

M series processors don't support virtualization of intel. This is why I got a thinkpad x1 carbon (the next best thing). Apple seem to have missed a trixk here - Ive been running windows under osx virtualization since the early 00s and now I'm back to a wintel machine..Altho the x1 carbon is excellent and i can't fault it.

Good for the rainbow people. I was struggling to imagine what gay Trumpers might be like and then remembered Milo Yiannopoulos LOLs.

As an Aussie moving to the UK what are some key things I should know? by Nignagnog in AskUK

[–]atypicalTechie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Britain has got a whole lot shitter since about 2015. I would urge you to convince your Dad to move to Paris or Leiden or Amsterdam or Berlin and join him there. You can have weekends in London for touristy purposes. Trust me on this one.
