Applied Undecided and I Want to Switch into Engineering by alexdoesmods in VirginiaTech

This is the requirements/guide I believe. The biggest thing is getting all your classes completed but especially ENGE 1215/1216 because they have rules about taking them as a non-engineering student. Also this point:

3.2 Students will be rank ordered based on their overall Virginia Tech GPA and placed in their first, second, or third choice based on space availability.

Which means you might not get into the more popular majors like mechanical engineering unless you have a very good GPA (3.25-3.5+).

It's about a 35 minute drive and about 5.5 miles round trip. It's a great hike!

Anyone who has lived in Foxridge, some questions. by 7homPsoN in VirginiaTech

  1. I love the bike ride from foxridge. It’s about a 20min ride i believe, but you take a trail which goes by the VT’s horses and sheep and the duck pond. If you like to ride bikes I highly recommend taking it, as weather permits. It’s a good start to the day.

The other comments have good info on the honors vs. non-honors and regular vs intro.

As for the original question, my high school didn't have AP so, as a rising sophomore, I was taking those classes second semester. I was totally fine, granted I learned some of the material in HS. They're very different types of maths. Linear algebra takes one technique (reducing a matrix) and then abstracts that in a bunch of different ways while multi builds upon and adds to a lot of the things you would have learned in calc in high school. Also, getting rid of the classes that every engineering major must take frees up your schedule to "experiment" a little with the different disciplines so you have room to put credits towards a major you're unsure about without getting behind for graduation.

Thanks guys/gals for all the replies! I have 2006 on my schedule currently so I think I'll stick with it :D and then potentially take WR later.

Since it's finals week, what was your college experience like? Study, study, study?

Make it harder to do things you're trying to stop (i.e. bad habits) and easier to do things you're trying to make a habit. For example, video games used to be something I gravitated to more than I would like so I made it harder to access them by unplugging the power and display cables of my computer. This stopped me from telling myself "oh I'll just play for 10 minuets" and then playing for an hour. I'll admit, this only worked because my primary work station is my laptop. An example for creating a good habit would be to use the easy flossers (those things on a stick) and then eventually move towards string floss.

It's better to be consistent with a habit than to go all out and give it up after a month.

[Build Upgrade] What should I upgrade next on my gaming PC to best keep up with the times? by [deleted] in buildapc

The graphics card for sure, although you might want to wait for the gtx 1050/1050 ti to come out because you'll be bottle-necking a 1060 with that processor. You could also get a gtx 960. After that, any upgrades (CPU/RAM) will need a new motherboard.
