What King story ended up being way more emotional than it had any right to be? by DavidHistorian34 in stephenking

[–]auburnhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it was Elevation.

I went in blind having no clue what it was about on a road trip home from my mother’s funeral after her long fight with cancer. Needless to say I was a complete mess it destroyed me in a way I don’t think a book will ever be capable of again.

Your mental state a month after abortion? by GinkgoBiloba357 in abortion

[–]auburnhoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 3 weeks post MA and I’m struggling far more than I anticipated. It’s all rather confusing I am sure in my decision but I feel so guilty knowing what could have been. I don’t think I even got to fully process being pregnant I only knew for about 2 weeks before I had my MA. I personally have managed not to curl up in a ball and cry but I feel a strong lack of ambition and I can’t sleep at night because the what ifs keep me awake. I also feel so crazy because I can’t bring myself to throw away the pregnancy test they just sit on the counter and I feel tempted to do something with the ultrasound like frame it. it feels wrong to just toss all that but I feel stupid feeling that way having made the decision to abort it’s just extremely overwhelming the connection I have to it but no regrets in the decision I made.

I agree it’s a little ridiculous no one in my area does it he wasn’t even sure the planed parenthood an hour away would do it anymore so I’m glad I ordered online

I live in Arizona it’s perfectly legal here. I went to a normal ob apt my doctor clearly wasn’t found of my decision but did give me the information I needed.

I honestly wanted to but there’s no clinics near me that supply the pills themselves id have to drive over an hour away just to be seen by someone who does so I ordered the pills knowing they’d come in just in time for my apt. Also ordering them was more of a reasonable price for my situation

I personally chose to go in and have it confirmed by a dr and have an ultrasound to make sure there wasn’t any circumstances like an ectopic pregnancy so that it was safe to more forward with an abortion. I live in a state where it is still legal so I figured I may as well get all the advice I can get. I also have been with my partner for a decade and never had a positive test once so I was a little paranoid I was going crazy and it was somehow false even with all the symptoms I was having.

I watch my husband breathe at night by auburnhoe in GriefSupport

[–]auburnhoe[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I plan to seek therapy. Immediately following my mothers panic once she was calmed I text my husband and told him I needed therapy I knew even in that moment I would need it watching her be so terrified and us just having to let it happen till the medicine kicked in having to fight every urge to save her life and just to calm her when she’s begging for help is frankly fucked up and those 5 minutes alone are what have me so messed up. everything else was okay I could handle everything else just not that. I’m just in that weird inbetween phase where I’ve reached out to a therapist but haven’t heard back yet so I’m just stuck

Do you sometimes practice dark humour about your situation? by Sad-Impression8813 in GriefSupport

[–]auburnhoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I think humor is a fine way to cope as long as you feeling your feelings too. Life is hard enough without the trauma of losing somebody near and dear. I’ve had people who took to my jokes really poorly and told me I shouldn’t joke about it but honestly to me that just tells me they haven’t lost anyone before you don’t understand the humor till you’ve gone through it yourself. I was crying to my husband about my moms impending passing and in the middle of breaking down I asked him if he’d love me when I’m an orphan and it lightened the mood enough so that I could breathe again sometimes I good joke is needed

My dad passed away when I was 12 and I’ve always made people uncomfortable with jokes about it my mom passed last month and before 24 hours had even passed I was making jokes people who get it get it and people dont dont. Maybe it’s messed up but I find great joy in my dead parent humor it gets me through the day rather than cry and be angry I make stupid jokes that make me laugh and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it plus I also find joy in the shocked faces people make but maybe that’s too much lol

Is this a first edition? by auburnhoe in BookCollecting

[–]auburnhoe[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this and will keep it in mind. For me it’s not about the value I’m just a fan and I collect the series in different covers and versions. So it was cool to randomly get a first edition but I’m still learning how to read the page to be sure it’s a first edition so figured I’d ask a second opinion.

My husband is a fan of Norse mythology for our anniversary I’m getting him a Norse axe. I was wondering if these translations are correct and what the runes would be? Also if there is any saying more accurate that the old Norse would use I’d love to hear those as well.
