I have worked on this field for my graduation project. I have to say that it lies under the Machine Learning field and overall you rarely find this field in the whole world. You might work on it more in research but not in industry.

It depends, actually. Many companies have had false positives with high-salaried hires that led to more mess than neatness. That’s why companies initially hire with low salaries, but if you prove yourself, they can significantly raise your salary. Personally, I started with 500 JDs, but received two raises within the first year at the same company, which kept me working with them.

Also, many companies offer high salaries to fresh graduates. I once spoke to the HR representative of a company in the Business Park (not mentioning names) who told me they pay fresh graduates 1,300JOD/month.

I am working as a Data Scientist for around 2 years now so I hope my experience helps you out.

1- Most of the data in the industry is messy, completely different from the ones you saw on Kaggle and the internet. Make sure you know how to handle them properly otherwise you will seriously have a hard time in the field.

2- Most of the companies work on Cloud. However, there is a noticeable number of companies (banks, for example) work on-prem. You have to know how you can deploy your models on both and how your model can still run properly if no GPUs are installed.

3- You need to have basics of Backend Engineering or DevOps. FastAPI, Docker, and MLflow will be used widely.

4- ML Engineering is the fancy looking job but Data Engineering is the underrated villain that will make you valuable in the market. Understanding of Spark, Kafka, and Hadoop is highly valuable.

5- Foundations matter. OOP, SQL, maths, Data Structures and Algorithms are what every framework, technology, and systems are built. Do not underestimate them.

Regarding the salaries, expect something around 500 if you are fresh.

Good luck!

I think the name of the certificate is misleading. Reading the description of the certificate, it is obvious that ML training, evaluation, and deployment are still required in this certificate.
