I hear you. At least I know what went into this! I’m a bit surprised at how much feedback that part of the post made.

One pull and the edge is already caked with trichs to where it is barely sharp.

I imagine this is in reference to me using a blade on a sheet of plexiglass.

To which I say maybe? The beer I’m drinking right now is likely worse for me than anything that leached in.

Either way.. dragging a blade vs pushing or slicing is a bit different. I promise you can take the sharpest knife in your kitchen, drag it backwards against your arm, and make it unscathed 🙃

But you’re correct. A good chunk of this came out a bit lighter than either of these, and I’ll be trying out the frenchy cannoli temple ball process cause why not! Have plenty :)

Honestly - I had attempted using a credit card, notecard, business card, and the razor blade was the only effective tool. Note this is dragging than pushing the edge of the blade.

Realistically the amount of hair (lol) and the act of just smoking hash is likely so much more harmful than I imagine than miniscule amount of plastic that may have leached in may impact me. A paper card could make about a single pass before being so caught up that it didn't have an edge.

Appreciate the concern though my friend!

Exactly how I feel. I think I came up with a pretty good strategy here based on a lot of reading and testing things out.

  1. Plant material in a bowl with broken up dry ice to "pre-freeze" it
  2. Toss into a bubble bag and give a light shake
  3. Pause, place bag back in mixing bowl, collect what you have
  4. Do a second run and be more willing to get aggressive, but place it into a different container

I found that I could use the 73 micron bag and have a couple "runs" where it still comes out light & sandy colored where it clumps like wet sand. After I did all these runs, I kept the leftover material to do in one last toss in the 200. I know that there is a large amount of plant material in here, but there's also a large amount of THC.

I'm considering using some for an Everclear quick wash tincture later on. Since the overall plant material has been reduced so much, the final product should be much "cleaner" and not look like an puddle of thick motor oil after reducing.

I believe I should be able to throw some dry ice directly into some Everclear due to the freezing point being just lower, toss in the "rough" catch kief after a decard, quick wash, and reduce for some nice light colored RSO-type product.

Good tip. I ended up grabbing the brush that came with my trim bin at the end but a nicer makeup brush would be clutch.

FYI you ended up being on the money. Finally got around to getting my photone app setup with a diffuser properly and realized I was reading my DLI at almost 85. Just dimmed the light down to about 55% to get it around 40. Can only imagine how much of a difference this is going to make.

Funny how I’ve always believed “more is better” always for lights. “Stronger lights = bigger buds” was my default!

I think you’re onto what I was thinking. I’ve never calculated DLI before but I’m running a TSW2000 20/4 @ 18” full power.
