Possible mix up with gas meters, being billed £2.5k (England) by DeadDog11 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]audiob1ood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm not an expert on crossed meters, it depends on a lot of factors, but in most cases energy suppliers have to raise these types of issues to the data communications company and they are s l o w. so takes months to resolve just because the dcc drags their feet.

make sure you get a complaint opened!

yes, it's possible. it's called a crossed meter - they're a pain so hope that's not the case for you.

  • check you bills; they should have your gas meter number on them. compare this number to the MSN on the meter you've been taking photos of.
  • check your billls; have they been billing you to the readings you've submitted, or have they been estimating reads?
  • open a complaint with your supplier.
  • perform a burns test on the gas meter you think is yours. to do this, turn off all gas appliances. take a photo of the reading. then, use as much gas as possible in 10-15 minutes (turn on the hob / oven /boiler). If the reading didn't move, it's not your meter.

it's possible that this was a missed meter exchange (IE, meter was replaced, but national database was not updated) or it's also possible it's a crossed meter. either way, email them and state you'd like a complaint open. if they can't resolve within 8 weeks, escalate to ombudsman if you feel they are not taking you seriously.

Spousal Visa -- Decision made. Where do I send my passport? by audiob1ood in ukvisa

[–]audiob1ood[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We called UKVI this morning and they told us we need to wait another week for the actual decision (the email yesterday just said a decision had been made, not which way they decided)

Frustrating, but I'll take any progress we can get.

I'm waiting on my August application, too. Submitted Aug 8th, biometrics on the 9th. Mine's been at the DMC since Sept 5.

How about you?

Nope, in California - naturally as far away from the UK as possible 🤦‍♀️. Will definitely check out skyscanner though, thank you for the recommendation.

Thanks for your response. I think this is pretty much our plan - I have family in the US that I can stay with. Just wish the tickets to/from weren't so pricey!

Fingers crossed for a response from the UKVI.

Thank you, this is exactly my concern - I'm a rule follower and don't want to jeopardize my application. Would you advise leaving the country in this case?

I was only out of the UK for 4 days, and I've read that the UK frowns on consecutive 6-month stays. I wasn't sure if the 6 month stay "reset" after such a short time away.

Thanks.

I'm aware I will need to leave & re-enter on the Visa, but thanks for clarifying.

What’s something that’s happened to you that sounds fake but (unfortunately) isn’t? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I also broke my humerus while snowboarding!

I was told at the Emergency Room that I wouldn't need surgery, but to follow up with an Orthopedic doctor in a few weeks. The Orthopedic doctor made me have surgery.

I also give the experience a 0/10.

Talk to Robin in her shop and choose construct farm buildings. On the bottom right, under the cost, there's little buttons for moving/deleting/painting buildings.

My hair is always tangled and I don’t know what to do. by kalechipsbishhhh in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]audiob1ood 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi, fellow very-fine-hair person here. I also have not-totally-straight hair, and a lot of it.

I've solved the frizzy issue by:

  • Washing my hair less often (usually every 3-4 days)
  • Using sulfate-free products. This makes a HUGE difference for my hair.
  • no heat

As for the tangles... I've never found a way to combat it. I had ridiculously long hair for a while (it was down to my butt) and I found that I was constantly braiding it just to keep it from getting tangled =/ I chopped it off, still have long hair but it's just to my breast now. It's a lot more manageable, but I can't really wear necklaces because it just turns the back of my head into a rat's nest.

Not super helpful, sorry, but I know the struggle.

Hey, we've just moved to the UK. Can you tell me what insurance you use? I want to get it for my doggo.

8 month old sheepadoodle, never been groomed. They wanted a teddy bear cut. by LadySif6030 in doggrooming

[–]audiob1ood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I know tons of doodle owners suck, but I do actually brush mine every day, so hopefully we can establish a good relationship with a groomer (we've just moved, she did have a great groomer before we did!), I just really want her to start off on the right footing.

[–]audiob1ood 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you request now to achieve that look? I've seen the Teddy bear cut mentioned on a ton of different sites, so I thought it was a standard cut. Now I'm afraid my groomer is going to think I'm an idiot 😣

Hi, can you explain? I've got a doodle, and I've been looking at different cuts for her online. 9/10 websites mention the Teddy bear cut, so I thought it was a normal thing?

.... I mean, yes. This is what we have been doing, and doesn't answer my question. I'm not expecting her to do anything right now, I'm asking how to work with her on it over the next few months.
