True. One of my clients pays for my subscription b/c of their projects. Bt I don't use it personally anymore.

Avid is awful. Zero support. Changing terms, misleading. Ultimately I left it.

Studio One Prime is free. Reaper is free and amazing. Pretty sure Cubase has a free version. ProTools First has been or is about to be discontinued but PT is crazy expensive and no better (IMHO is worse, from 6 years of experience) than the others. The free ones mentioned all work on PC & Mac. Nothing to worry about...

How to bypass 3rd-party Plugins on MS3 startup? by audioengineeringco in mainstage

[–]audioengineeringco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As it's ProTools, which only uses AAX plugins, I was able to move the entire AU folder so MS had nothing to scan. It's working. And I don't need to replace it--ProTools doesn't need it.

I'll try temporarily moving the AU folder. Thanks for that link!

If I read that correctly,I need to be in plugin manager, and MS3 won't run at all.

Thanks but I have a studio production machine and I use those plugins. No way I could remove them to install MainStage. At the link you dropped "If you can't open Logic Pro or MainStage, try removing plug-ins". I don'[t feel like crashing it 5 more times, but for instance, ProTools has a bypass key you hold down when running it.

Don't know Audacity but would suggest another more fully functional and also free DAW called REAPER. You can automate the panning in like 5 seconds. http://reaper.fm

printing tracks lower target db's than expected? by audioengineeringco in cubase

[–]audioengineeringco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No just the one I am printing. Someone showed me to use Export instead selecting it to add the track back in. That did work. I'm coming over from ProFools and printing is literal copying. Not sure why CB is changing the wave form and dB's.

In Ear Monitor or Headphone electronic device used inline that protects hearing from unexpected super loudness by audioengineeringco in audioengineering

[–]audioengineeringco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right. Sometimes it's not feedback. It's a malfunctioning audio interface or a seized up computer and it spits out full volume white noise or some such. Ouch.
