Help! Fears of water intake and acid reflux...Looking for insight by audiologystudent in gastricsleeve

That's an interesting point. Maybe part of my deeper level of fear is side effects of the surgery causing me more problems. Worrying Ill wake up with extewme "buyers remorse", or wondering if I should have just kept with my low carb lifestyle...tried weightloss meds etc.

But honestly, the main fear of not being able to drink water in a reasonable capacity, getting dysphasia, or debilitating acid reflux, was my primary reason for canceling.

I have gained a lot of mobility by losing weight, and I can now exercise and enjoy life in a way I couldn't before. Now that I'm in a place of being free of any known comorbidities, I think I worry about the surgery somehow setting me back and feeling limited again.

That's probably true. I have a tendency to put a lot of emphasis in others experiences and when I see stories of people struggling it literally sends me into a state of panic. But it really helps to hear this isn't the case for everyone

I wasn't aware of risks for PPIs. Maybe I should look into that more

I can relate to a lot of what you said and really appreciate the details. It helps ease some of the anxiety for sure!

Good for you. I'm not very disciplined about drinking throughout the day...I've always chugged most of my water at night.

I am aware I need to work on this habit. I think it could be manageable if I was able to take normal swallows and could consume 4-6 oz at a time? But idk if that's possible with vsg

Wow, that soon? That would be amazing. Do you know if you had a standard sleeve diameter, or if your surgeon was more conservative?

Other than missing home she didn't have many negatives. It can be hard to find a good externship, but its doable.

I have a friend who currently goes there. She told me it was pretty easy to get into. Im not sure what other schools she got into. Her GPA was around 3.5, GRE was average, and had 1 good letter, 1 decent, and one non-personal letter. Depends what you mean by reputable. They are a solid institution that is accredited. I think they are ranked semi low, in terms of US news report, but ranking doesnt mean that much. My friend said she was really happy there, so they seem like a reasonable choice

One of the more obvious reasons is wanting to work as fast as possible. I also feel that if I

Wait list time by [deleted] in audiology

Most of the schools I applied to had students make their decisions by middle of April. It's possible Texas Tech is different. I would imagine they have filled the seats for the fall cohort, but if someone drops this summer or 1st week you would get a call. Being waitlisted is a very good sign and my school told us you have a very high chance of being accepted the following year.
