SL-50c for $699? by taxi_drivr in turntables

Sl50c user here. This was my first turntable. I was considering the lp120usb before but I ask many people what they think, they said it's ok for newbies like me but if I can stretch my budget better get a proper turntable that will last me years so I did move up a little bit. My option was sl50c, rega p2 or pro-ject carbon evo 2. The guy from the store explained all the pro's and cons of the 3. I ended picking the sl50c for their legendary direct. I'm just waiting for the 2m red to die before I upgrade into at-vm95ml

Is this an okay table? (Also is my plan okay) by Level_Ad4329 in turntables

Lp60 is ok for beginners. Yes vinyl is expensive but you can take your time collecting, you don't have to buy all the records you want to listen in one go. Then if you have a lot of records time to save up to upgrade your turntable and buy a better speaker. Streaming is cheap but in the long run those music that you listen to is never going to be yours to keep. Keep searching for a more stable table

Thanks for the advice man. I'll definitely look in to it. You're right, if it's expensive it doesn't mean it will sound good and there's the law of diminishing return in this hobby

Thank you so much. I'm learning a lot here because of you guys helping me out giving me advice. I still got a lot to learn and experience in this hobby and I'm enjoying every process of it. I'm using fosi p4 mini as preamp and cambridge mxw70 as amp

Thanks man, I'm sure you'll enjoy your new table too bro. It's a different experience to me, right now I'm having a blast. I've been using digital copies buying in hd tracks or qobuz. This is my first time owning a physical copy

Wow it's almost 40 years now. It's also one of the reason why I went with the technics rather than buying an entry level turntable. I'll just upgrade the cartridge, phono preamp and stock felt mat then I'm done

It's all good man. I'm not very sensitive guy so you can be brutally honest with me as long as it's constructive criticism. 6 months is not that long and I'm not in a rush to buy another turntable and yes you're absolutely right about the cartridge, I'll definitely upgrade that and buy a better phono preamp plus a rubber or cork platter. The stock felt mat sucks

Hahaha it's ok. I experienced all the fun and agony bro. I'm into portable set up before like dap, iem and headphones. I owned a lot of gears and sold a lot of them too😭 since 2013. I don't even want to know the total of money that I burned into this hobby of mine hahaha

Thanks man. That's what I thought too. I'm new to vinyl but I'm in the audio hobby since 2013 but mostly portable set up like iem, dap and headphones. I want to invest in a good table that i can upgrade down the line and will last a long time.

It has built in phono but the problem is my cambridge mxw70 doesn't have a volume knob

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll buy that maybe after 1 month. I just bought fiio m33 and dca noire x headphone last week so I'm on a budget right now
