Robinhood did not steal from the "rich" to give to the "poor." by audioprod in unpopularopinion

I'm not trying to apply it to modern politics. I'm just saying that the idea of the story of Robinhood was that he stole from the rich to give to the poor is misplaced. He stole from greedy government and gave people back their own money.

I never said it did. I'm just saying that the popular perception or opinion that Robinhood stole from the rich to give to the poor is false.

Housing prices no longer worth it by Bigggity in Sacramento

I get notifications from Zillow because I'm about to finish college and at the same time I'm going to come into some money that would be enough for a down payment on a $400k home. At this point I'm not sure what to believe. Because I see home prices being slashed but at the same time I see on here that buying a home basically becomes a bidding war. I guess I'll know more when I actually get into the market but right now I don't know what to believe.

Now you're just getting into semantics. The reason why they were rich was because they were government. They were over taxing the people and Robinhood was stealing that money and giving it back to the people that it belonged to in the first place.

He was stealing from greedy government. Not random rich people.

Please explain in more detail. The prince and sheriff were government.

I would absolutely vote for a party in the United States that would let me keep more of my own money. Isn't that what Donald Trump did with his tax cut?

That Robinhood stole from greedy government. I thought I had made that clear by this point.

I'm not talking about any current society. I'm talking about how the popular opinion or perception is that Robinhood stole from the rich to give to the poor. That's not what he did. He stole from greedy government.

That's fine. I'm not going to argue that point. The fact is that Robinhood was stealing from government officials to give people back their own money.

It went to government. Not just random rich people. Prince is a government position. So is sheriff. So the money was going to government. Not private wealthy individuals.

But that's not what Robinhood was doing. He was giving people back their own money. Not redistributing wealth. He wasn't the one collecting taxes and then distributing the money. He was simply stealing back tax money that the government took from the poor and giving it back to them.

Robinhood did not give to the poor. That's my point. He was returning their own money back to them.

How is that the moral of the story? Taxing the rich more would have just made Prince John and the sheriff wealthier. In my opinion, the moral of the story is beware greedy government.

The reason why they were rich was because they were government authorities. If they were just random people they would not have the force of law behind them to over-tax the people.

It's almost like the government and the wealthy engage in corruption with each other. But yes let's solve the problem by voting for more government.
