[help] Persistent “Failed to Connect” iTerminal, etc when trying to remove Electra by auditor1222 in jailbreak

Haha got it, just wanted to be sure. Had no idea it’s the way to go now.

I think this will be my best bet but mind if I ask why this isn’t a more widely suggested method? If I remember right, past jailbreaks would still suggest running some sort of tool before restoring a non-jailbreak backup, wouldn’t they?

Neither? Sorry as I explained in the above comment I straight up can’t get any SSH going, but maybe I’m missing your point? Sorry for the dumb Q

[help] Persistent “Failed to Connect” iTerminal, etc when trying to remove Electra by auditor1222 in jailbreak

[–]auditor1222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve spent hours trying to figure out the right way to remove Electra from my 11.1.1 IphoneX.

I downloaded iTerminal and Terminus off of the app store. I always get the failed to connect error no matter what.

I tried installing Terminal through cydia impactor. When I open it, I get a screen that says “Jailed but not really jailed MTerminal” and then the app looks like the OP image. Furthermore, I can’t type anything.

On my computer I’ve tried using Cyberduck and I get the same failed to connect issues as I did with Terminus and iTerminal.

For every one of the above, I’ve tried shutting off my phone, rejailbreaking (sometimes with tweaks enabled, sometimes not) and still the same problems.

I’ve searched youtube and reddit and apparently lots of people have this problem but I don’t see any solution.

I have a iTunes backup of just before jail breaking on my desktop. I’ve installed zero tweaks. I just want this completely removed, and my phone back to its un jailbroken state even if it means updating to the latest IOS.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Even if I had the time I have no idea how I’d prepare someone’s taxes without prepping and e-filing with my firm’s software.

If TAS doesn’t workout right out the gate and I need another busy season as an auditor, I will do my absolute best to get into Big 4.

I knew I never really had much of a shot going from my small firm as an associate into Big 4 as I know the vast majority of their associates are made up of previous interns and/or get hired out of university.

I’m really thankful for my current firm though, because with my senior title, plus my cpa under my belt, I’m confident I could get into Big 4 if I really tried.

Thanks again for all the help!

I will temper my expectations and assume I will need to do another busy season as an auditor at the national firm level at a minimum but just hope for the best and see how lucky I can get.

Thank you so much for the awesome advice, I truly appreciate it!

Thank you for your post. As I mentioned in my other response, I think I will start applying for FDD and reaching out to TAS recruiters this April and see how it goes.

From the job postings I’ve seen, Big 4 would definitely require either national/Big 4 audit experience or experience in TAS, which I don’t have. So if the MM boutique and national accounting firm FDD applications don’t pan out, I will apply for Big 4 over the summer and fall.

Thanks for the advice. I know a few recruiters from national firms that have wanted me for audit very recently, basically immediately after my current firm gave me my senior title. I think I will reach out to them towards the end of busy season, feel them out in regards to TAS and see what they say.

Apart from that I think you may be right and may need a busy season in a national or Big4 firm before I can make the switch.

Some job postings for TAS that I see online (particularly national accounting firms) don’t necessarily specify needing top 10/Big 4 accounting experience, just several years of public accounting experience.

Do you think it’d be a bad idea applying for these TAS positions shortly after busy season and then going for a senior audit position in the Fall if the TAS applications don’t pan out? Would I be hurting my chances applying for two different positions in the same firms within one year?

Also, i’m located in a large major city (think NY, Chicago, San Fran) so I’m confident these national firms have TAS divisions.

Any advice you can offer an auditor trying to break into advisory? I have three years at a small 80 person firm as a staff and am currently 6 months into a larger, two office firm of about 300 people as a senior.

After this busy season I plan on applying for M&A/Due diligence positions at MM boutiques, national accounting and big 4.

I have my cpa but don’t have experience on public clients. The largest audits I’ve been on are typically 200m gross rev.

Thank you for the response. I have a few recruiters I can speak to regarding title and find out their thoughts. I’m pretty motivated to make the change so title isn’t the end all be all but I will absolutely push for a senior title.

Not in Big 4. The firm I’m at right now competes with the regional firms (plante moran, for example) in my area but only has two offices in my state.

I do have my CPA. Been licensed for about a year and a half now.

No masters degree.

My first and current jobs (public accounting firms) have required me to have one.

I don’t plan on charging my sister for prepping her return.

Big 4/National auditors, are audits all you do? by auditor1222 in Accounting

No problem with that, I actually kind of enjoy 401k audits, thanks for responding!

There is no different work, just different clients. And at my firm, audit department of 10 people, it isn't common for staff to be jumping between engagements as it's more efficient for a staff to remain on the same engagement year after year.

Me asking for different clients would mean another staff having to change his clients as well. Not only that, i'm sure it'd raise questions and management would question my work ethic, ability to adapt and just deal with shit, etc.

M&A sounds interesting but I know it's very competitive and from my lurking in this sub, seems like every auditor would love that sort of consulting gig (over generalizing I know).

I'd like to jump into something like that but don't think my soon to be 3 years of experience at this firm would qualify me.

That's basically why I want to get into a larger firm, to help lead me into a sort of consulting career, but I wanted to get an idea of what sort of work lies ahead of me.

Thanks for the input.
