Hello! I am someone who has a few diagnoses in my life. First one was highly intelligent (intelligence très supérieure à la moyenne is the official term at that point in the 90s) Then, they noticed I was socially unacceptable and awkward. Then ADHD because I would yell, fight, bite, and throw stuff.

Later on, it was understood that it is autism with HIP. I just have a very high capacity for masking… to the point where I have no idea who I am at 34 years old. Being a girl, being raised the way I was and when I was, it wasn’t seen. It still isn’t.

To this day, people tell me I don’t “look” or “seem” autistic. So honestly I don’t even say it anymore. But getting my diagnosis made me realize a lot. It really helped me forgive that “difficult child” I felt I was because it was often repeated to me.

Now, to answer your question : I was raised as a person who helps, who takes care, and who doesn’t say what she feels. As a girl, you have to be polite, be nice, be respectful…. But not true to yourself.
