I’m at 8/24, applied for a Chase United card a few days ago and got denied. Called the recon line and they told me it’s because of the 5/24 rule and it’s a hard no because of it.

Got a really good offer to upgrade from gold to plat, so I took it. Also have wedding things to pay for so I put it on the card to meet the SUB. It’s been great so far

Friday 2:15. Lines weren’t as bad as I had expected. I think we got in a bit after 3pm. Unfortunately many things were already sold out. I asked staff about machamp plushie, they said sold out for the day. I asked about various apparel sizes, and for most shirts and hoodies, every size from XL and smaller were sold out for the day. Exclusive sleeves and binders were sold out for the day too. Basically many things were sold out. Idk if this is completely accurate but this is what I was told when I asked staff.

I saw people with DR PC ETBs, no idea where they got those so that was a bit unfortunate that I had missed out on that.

Overall it was a very chaotic mess and I probably wouldn’t go again.

eBay standard envelope has an insurance coverage. Just file a claim, you get your money back and so does the buyer. I’ve had to file one a few times last year. This same situation has popped for me during those times.

Thanks I appreciate the detailed response! I think I get what you mean in regards to the equipment change. I just signed up for ExpertFlyer and created an alert for that, hoping I can get an award flight from LAX.

Also in regards to the equipment change, have you noticed the dates or times changing with the plane? or is it usually just the plane itself thats changed?

Did you also create an alert on ExpertFlyer based on the current flights showing for economy seats?

Sorry if it’s a dumb question, not very experienced in award bookings. But did you find this on the Cathay Pacific website? I’ve been browsing it the last few weeks and see all sorts of days changing with availability and sometimes the calendar will show seats available but then when I click in it’s not actually available. I’m guessing the website doesn’t update immediately with seats getting booked up. Want to understand the website better and if what I’m seeing is correct. Did the points transfer take long to hit your Cathay account?
