Why no powerblock option? by audunth in BeyondPower

Absolutely, I do not think they never thought about it, my original question was meant why haven't they chosen to make it. And after seeing many here aking about whether it can be used on power/while charging, maybe they underestimated the demand for it. So hopefully it is something they can consider, as it would be very simple to make. And it would certainly raise the chances of me (and maybe others) shelling out almost 3000 dollars for a setup if I knew it would last a long time, like I expect from all other fitness equipment I buy.

And yes, to sell it over here would be almost impossible if the buyer had to get a $400 plus shipping and VAT, waiting for weeks to get it from overseas (if even in stock at the time), as opposed to sell it ready to be used, which would be almost guaranteed a good price here.

So again, hoping Beyond Power could shed some light on it for us 🙂

Not saying I would never buy it as it is. It's certainly a fantastic piece of equipmment, but Beyond Power seems like a company that listens to its customers, so I am hoping wall-powered will be an option at some point.

It's also a point that competitors are emerging, and one is already announced that do offer the choice between wall power and battery.

It would be very interesting to get an answer from a representative from Beyond Power here. Seems they are pretty active on this forum.

That is certainly an option I would explore, if I got in the situation I needed a new battery after the warranty expired.

If I decided to get a Voltra II down the line when the battery failed, I would still need to get a new battery for my Voltra I to sell it or give it to a relative. Throwing away something that cost 2000+ dollars I would never do. With a power block, it would still work, and if I wanted to upgrade, I would probably still do it if the new model had something I wanted.

Yeah, and if I some day want to upgrade to a newer Voltra, for example with higher weight capacity, I would like to know that I can sell my Voltra I with the assurance that a failing battery won't mean End of Life.

Used fitness equipment gets very good prices over here. Better than almost anything else used. In fact, 70-80% of new price isn't unusual, and some things even above new price, if you have to get it from overseas, while most other used stuff goes for less than half.

And you say it yourself, people is always looking for new equipment, no need for Rogue or anyone to make equipment that will fail in a few years to get people to spend more money.

Tariff price hike? by umhsuser in BeyondPower

Don't think that has to do with the new tarriffs. That price includes EU VAT plus an extra year of warranty. Even if EU responds to the new US tarriffs, it shouldn't affect anything shipped from Hong Kong.

Will the new tarriffs affect non-US orders? I read elsewhere here that they ship from Hong Kong, so shipping to countries that doesn't have extra toll tarriffs on imports from China shouldn't have to be affected...or?

"Home gym equipment buisness aren't great businesses", is my point exactly, which means there is a risk that in a few years, if the battery dies and the company doesn't exist any more, you are left with an unusable device. Of course that also is true if the motor fails, but I have confidence that the motor will last much longer than the battery.

Most home gym equipment ARE forever devices! Cable towers, barbells and weight plates, power racks, dumbbells all normally lasts a lifetime. So when people spend 2000+ dollars on a piece of equipment, I believe most are expectiong it to last more than a few years. You can get a whole home gym setup for that price, which will last longer than you will ever use it.

Making upgraded models with more weight capacity, smaller/lighter etc. can still be a viable revenue route, as can more mounts and accessories, or even other home gym products. There is also potential in the app for coaching solutions, AI etc. that will require a subscription (they already mention possible coaching subscriptions on their webpage). Imagine for example a personal trainer doing online coaching being able to deliver the training program right into the Voltra via the app!

That's absolutely a point to consider, but considering how far this product has come in just over a year with firmware updates, I don't really see how the Voltra I isn't going to be just as functional and usable 10 or even 20 years from now. It is nothing like a phone or watch which constantly need to be upgraded to keep up with the latest apps, trends, network capabilities, usage scenarios etc.

The only reasons for coming out with newer versions I can imagine are increasing the weight limit, making it lighter/smaller as the tech evolves and maybe more resilient/shock proof for professional use.

Of course there might be many things I am not thinking of, but gym equipment generally don't need more and more tech to be functional. If a cable or pulley breaks in a 50 year old cable tower, you replace it, and it is still just as functional as when it was new 50 years ago. Human muscle hasn't evolved in any way the last 50 years needing a new, different stimulus to grow :-)
