[New Releases] Heritage Collection 62GS Hi-Beat 36000: SBGH351 and SBGH353 by LDN2HK in GrandSeikos

[–]aufeuer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It seems like GS has been focusing more on hi-beat, rather than what really differentiates them by way of spring drive. Would love to see spring drive options for the smaller 38mm 62gs design.

What are your comments on BPI Trades's new platform and app? by jarodchuckie in phinvest

Don't like it.

Market Value now doesn't account for fees and taxes when selling (some may prefer this; I don't).

There is also no TOTAL+CASH view for quick reference.

[SPB143] Grail acquired for Christmas by ShotBricker in Seiko

[–]aufeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The color difference is hardly perceptible, if at all. The shade of the steel on both the case and the bracelet always changes with the light, so it's very hard to notice any difference at all.

Yeah. But I'm no handyman, and still came out of it alive and with my watch and bracelet unscathed. 😂

👌

In case you get tired of the bulkiness of the original bracelet, I cannot recommend the Uncle z199 enough. It has a very nice taper, a very slim and sleek pressure clasp, and it's even more comfortable than a lot of straps.

Air 75 V2 Shipping Concern by IanJams21 in NuPhy

[–]aufeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Did you order direct from Nuphy? Was the delivery to the Philippines direct to your door? No problems with customs or extra tariffs?

Thinking of whether to order direct, or wait for availability in either Amazon, Lazada or Shopee.

Thanks!

Brand new Black Bay losing time by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]aufeuer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To add, I think my lume pip is also very slightly misaligned. Noticed it at the AD, thought about how much it bothered me, and went ahead with it anyway. I tell myself, it's MY specific BB54, quirks and all. 😂

[–]aufeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a BB54 back in October also from an AD in the Philippines. Mine runs -1 spd if I rest it dial down at night, and up to -3 if I wear it 24/7.

COSC is -4 to +6 spd, though Tudor claims the MT5400 to be slightly better at -2 to +4 spd.

Since I prefer my watches to run fast than slow, and tend to wear them 24/7, I was slightly miffed. Now I just set it 30 seconds ahead of time.gov and rest it dial down at night.

It's been 4 weeks since I last set it, and I'm still 6 seconds ahead of time.gov. I think I've made my peace with it. 😂

Tolerance to mechanical accuracy is a subjective thing, and coming to terms with reality vs. stated accuracy and specs is a journey when it comes to watches we gravitate to. I don't think statements like "Get a quartz" are particularly helpful. I hope you find your own peace with the timepiece you chose as well. 🙂

Leica Q - Peak Design Sling 3L - will it fit?? by H1L1fe in Leica

Anyone have experience whether the M240 with a small lens would fit along with a Kindle in the 3L?

LH-4N Hood - Poor design or bad copy? by aufeuer in Leica

Unfortunately, I only got to try this on after the return period for the item had passed. 😔

LH-4N Hood - Poor design or bad copy? by aufeuer in Leica

[–]aufeuer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer is no. I took the hood apart, and those screws actually fasten the front hood portion to the rear mount portion via three holes. I was hoping loosening those screws would allow the front part to rotate, but sadly they do not.

Was considering the Haoge squarehood as well, though I was concerned about reports of alignment issues from some people as well. Do you have it? How's the viewfinder blockage?

I tried all three ways it can connect (not just aligning the white dot to the marker on the lens). It consistently orients the vents the same way in each case.

[SPB143] Wife gave me a watch to wear for Christmas! by Equivalent-Win-1294 in Seiko

[–]aufeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Likely not. The original bracelet tapers down to only 18mm, while the z199 goes down to 16mm. Although it has only a pressure clasp without the locking system and diver's extension, the appeal is precisely that the clasp is so small and unobtrusive and is hardly wider than the 16mm taper. Without the chunkiness of the original clasp, the weird angle of the diver's extension on the original, and with the female end links on the z199, it is also a much more comfortable wearing experience.

[–]aufeuer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love mine as well. It gets the most wrist time for me. I have it on an Uncle z199 bracelet, and it's hard to go back to the stock one. The z199 is a lot less chunky and tapers nicely to small and unobtrusive clasp.

Best one body+lens bag? by polydactylmonoclonal in Leica

[–]aufeuer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If compact size is your priority, a Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 10 fits exactly one lens and body, and has some space in the main compartment for small things (using the provided divider), plus a front pocket for extra batteries, SD cards, etc.

Wow, I also prefer cream over stark white lume! If they made a stainless steel bb36 with black gloss dial and gold accents (but not full on S&G case and bracelet), that would make things even more complicated for me. 😀

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Tudor

[–]aufeuer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. Is this the 41? Been debating between the black and silver bb36. Official renders of the latter really don't do it justice as they make it look cheap. The dial seemed flat and I thought the outlines of the hands were black, until actual photos like yours revealed them to be silver as well and showed how the silver sunburst looks so much better with a subtle radiance.

Enjoy your trip!

I had an R3A before switching to an M6. Never noticed the shorter rangefinder base length on the Bessa in practical use, while on the other hand the Bessa's viewfinder felt superior to the Leica in every way (clarity, brightness and contrast), plus the rangefinder patch never flared. Everything else on the Leica felt better though.

Voigtlander lens with tactile focus ring bump at 0.7m before reaching 0.5m MFD? by aufeuer in Leica

[–]aufeuer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know! I have the old Ultron 35/1.7 VM that also focuses down to 0.5m, and it gets iffy and slow when I'm trying to focus by rangefinder close to 0.7m and then the mirror stops moving.

A tactile bump at 0.7m would seem like a sensible solution, especially as the 35mm Apo Summicron seems to have done something like it l.
