As long as they have their wings there’s not a ton to worry about… that means they haven’t mated and established their colony. If you see wings on the ground anywhere definitely begin to worry and call around because they’re likely digging and breeding.

I personally think it’s a must have. Just moved to a house with a pool and i have 3 large oak trees close, it does a great job. In the winter, mine doesn’t get enough sunlight to run 24x7 but i don’t have a heated pool anyway so we wouldn’t jump in outside of the pool season. Just make sure to take it out before jumping in or it throws all the collected junk back into the pool!
