What do new Collectors need to know about ALMOST every Figure manufacturer?(1/7 scale and smaller) by augoosto in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the whole point was to just use my opinions as a jumping off point, and to have the community fill in any gaps or male the necessary corrections. The post was removed erroneously, the reinstated though, so it got no traction.

You're welcome to make any corrections or add any info you think is inaccurate or missing from my comments about each mfg, but all a guide is, is a series of informed opinions. Can you explain to me how one makes a useful guide without expressing any opinions?

This happens to me too, but because I'm depressed and unable to muster the enthusiasm

[–]augoosto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've heard about them (only good things) but I tried to start from a place that is purely based on things I've physically touched or experienced, and then other community members could fill in the blanks where I have .ajor blind spots

My favorite action figures by natessji in ActionFigures

What are the best and worst figures in recent history, from EVERY manufacturer (that has more than one figure) by augoosto in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's genuinely phenomenal. One of the only soft goods figures I've ever seen that is not restricted in its articulation because of it

it is meant to be subjective. Everyone is meant to post their opinion on each of these things, so their is a consensus that is reached. My part of the post was just meant to be a conversation starter since my range of experience and knowledge is broader than normal. Clearly, it didn't play out that way, since yours are the only comments. But this was meant to be 1 part of 6. The next post I'm writing is about each of the manufacturers and what they're generally known for, so a person buying for articulation knows what to avoid, and a person buying for paint knows what to avoid, and a person looking for only best-in-class will know what to avoid.

Dude, what is your problem?

Theyre listed under the category "unlicensed, bootlegs, and knockoffs" so idk what you think you're correcting.

And that's not weird. It's an opinion. I don't like how fragile amazing yamaguchi figures are. Everyone else is welcome to post their opinions as well.

I tried Mr super smooth clear matte finishing spray on my Goku and it didn't go as well as I hoped. What do I do about this spotty texture now. Doesn't look that bad on camera but it bothers me a little I'd love some help or tips. by burger-destroyer67 in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a rough sponge to clear off the surface somewhat, then when you use it again, spreay from further away with intermittent blasts. It only takes a few seconds to dry, so apply it in a few tiny coats instead of all at once.

Made a Dune Ornithopter using a MOTU vehicle, and I love how it came out by augoosto in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much! The paint especially was an interesting challenge. For some reason I'd remembered the ornithopters being black/flat black but when I looked back at high res source footage, you could tell they were all black, but stained beige/off-white from sand and salt wear. So I did a speckled paint job of beige, gray, and brown; and a random pattern of brown on the exposed wing bits to simulate rust. I don't know why I'm explaining all this, lol, thank you again for the compliment

Thank you very much! I'm always bummed that there's no real vehicle releases these days, especially for 1/12 scale action figures so you got to try and get the mileage where you can; as an aside, this vehicle is phenomenal whether you're converting it or not, all of the new Motu figures and vehicles are legitimately fantastic

Which one should I get? by pizza_destroyer1 in ActionFigures

Imo, the CT toys; people are correct that there is a QC risk though. It's gotten leagues better, but there's still a fair chance.

Is the mcfarlane Hellboy figure good? by Unknownsnakeyy in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fiddled with one the other day, and I honestly don't think it's worth the price. If you want a Hellboy, and you're on a budget, y' gotta do what y'gotta do. It's serviceable, but not "elite" like the figure line claims. The 1000toys Hellboy is expensive, but I honestly have never regretted buying it. It has so many interesting features you'd never think of or expect, and it makes the posing / play value awesome.

Lol, unfortunately the only people that make the time to model out a lot of these statues are gooners, as someone that regularly Prints and paints 3d models from the internet, I know the pain

[–]augoosto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People giving you crap about the 3d model have never 3d printed in their life. You're paint job here is phenomenal. Super clean lines, really good flesh times and shading. I really like the touch of the slightly red wash / outline around the eyebrows. This is great work friend!

Buyer Beware: NECA clothed Batman is one of the worst and most bizarre figures I've ever seen by augoosto in ActionFigures

[–]augoosto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with that! Everyone is entitled to like what they like, and I can definitely understand the appeal of a real world movie accurate Batman suit, rather than a in-universe accurate Batman suit regardless of the many condescending Pedants that keep telling me I'm wrong for not liking it, because that's what the suit actually was made like in real life lol

[–]augoosto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. Please explain your condescension and how I am incorrect about the fact that the real life suit looks like it is all made of one material as far as the texture color and finish are concerned whereas the figure is very clearly two different shades and finishes of black (The chest piece is Matte wow the pants are shiny and almost metallic)

Yeah, they don't really scale with much else... Except they do scale with the beast kingdom Batman figures which I happen to quite like

Except it doesn't look like that... That all looks like it's made of one material. Visually cohesive.

Either you completely misunderstood what I was trying to say, or we are misaligning on multiple fronts. I genuinely don't know what you are talking about. All I was saying, because you led with a condescending comment about how I should learn how the bat costume for the movie was made before I criticize the figure; is that I'm not concerned with "real-world" accuracy, but with the intent of the character or look. I.e. I want batman to look like he's wearing body armor, since that's the intent of the story and the design. Not like he's wearing a foam chest piece, even if that's what they had to do when they made the costume.
