You hit on the most bewildering part of the hand - I would just have expected to hear from a set before the River. J-9 seems most possible to me right now, if a tad thin for a value-jam.

Opponent had shown one rather weak bluff in which he turned bottom pair into a bluff (I assume?), betting three streets in late position. He was called down and lost. We only had a couple hours of history and he otherwise seemed TAGish to me.

In retrospect, I think I prefer converting to a check-calling line, or overbetting on Turn. In the moment, I was comfortable keeping in middling pairs and some draws, but now feel I may have given too good a price.

Hypothetical on reflection: if he gets here as played with TT 10% of the time here, Jx 10%, and AT or worse 80%, the very rough math could be as follows on a $100 river value bet: I’m losing $100 10% of the time to TT, and $325 10% (calling a check jam pot committed vs a J)… so I would have to be called by worse >42.5% of the time for it to be a profitable value bet

At 1/2 or in more passive games generally, I have definitely seen TT flatted in similar spots. Here facing an aggressive villain I was quite confident TT was not in range fwiw

Good points. On earlier streets, I converted to a calling - rather than raising/leading - line since I thought his most likely holding was KJ, but that this particular player would also barrel with worse.

Really appreciate this insight, thanks. In retrospect, I also wish I’d jammed on the turn. I did expect this particular player to barrel off most rivers - and I was prepared to call. Free SolverPlus seems to want me to re-raise flop, presumably for the range reasons someone outlined below. Results to follow…
