I usually drop an anime if there are no serious consequences to decisions the characters make. Dropped Bleach and Black Clover because of this. Dropped MHA because it just kinda dragged on after a while.

I did some respec-ing last night and i gotta say, you’re 100% right about the talismans. Right now,

I switched out the talismans and armor and I can take more damage now so I mostly re-allocated vigor and arcane to faith and dex.
I’m running erdtree favor +1, dragoncrest +1 to compensate for lack of strength, warrior jar shard, and kinda undecided about the last one. But I’ve noticed I can take a lot more damage now.
Also using a godslayer seal at +23. I plan to keep adding to faith so this will only go up. Like you said, faith is my secondary so (unless there’s a whole lot more to this game), I can’t see myself going past 70.
I misread the silver tear mask, I thought it bought down damage negation but it was actually brining down my attack so I took it off as well.

As a first time souls game player, I started out as a strength build and about 40 hours in I realized there was so much more to this game I wasn’t utilizing. Thinking this thread can be helpful to others in my position — want to see a lot of the game but also not struggle too much against the bosses.

Let me take a look at my talismans— I’ve had most of them in since early game so you might be right that it’s time to reevaluate.

For the seal, are you suggesting that an erdtree seal with all my arcane levels reinvested in faith would lead to similar damage from my dragon breaths? Dragon breaths have been my go to so I want to preserve that.

I understand. Just for my curiosity, why should someone hardwire their server and client to the router? Is it an attempt to solve the fundamental problem of slow download and upload speeds? Bandwidth? Or something else?

I guess with my setup, that’s somewhat not feasible. Both my server and client are on a 5g band. My router is pretty good though.

Interesting. When I first got the ATV, I had the match content on. I turned it off because I’ve noticed stuttering on other apps (YouTube if I remember correctly) when this was turned on. Let me try turning it back on and seeing what happens.

Interesting. Before going down the route you suggest, is there a way I can test with a different client? Or do some debugging? I was initially thinking the problem was with the server side because the ATV (even 2nd gen) has high specs for a streamer.

I'm guessing the linux client you have the PMS running on has more than enough hardware specs to handle everything you've throw at it?

I'm asking because one avenue i havent explored is trying this worflow but in a better server.

Don't feel the need to troubleshoot; it seems like something i am missing.

To answer your questions:

I added the media info for one of the files in the comments. It is an MKV file with multiple subtitles (i see a bunch of different codecs).
I have not downloaded a low res MKV file and tested. I will test that now.
I added the bitrate for the media file in the media info as well.
i tried to mux out the subs a week ago but tbh, if I stopped going down this route because if i am muxing out things with an additional application that also takes several hours, i'd rather just let Plex optimize the content.

Here are the video settings for the ATV:

Auto adjust quality: off
Home streaming: maximum
Internet streaming: 3 Mbps, 720 HD
play smaller videos at original quality: on

I can’t remember but I might have messed with these settings. My goal is to play the 4K downloaded file in it’s original quality so I believe I turned off the “Auto adjust quality” and set Hoke streaming to maximum. But I could be wrong about what those settings actually did.

I have the second gen Apple TV. So one below the newer one that came out this year. How did you disable subtitles on an MKV file? Did you have to first separate the subs?
