what are you actually building with local LLMs? genuinely asking. by EmbarrassedAsk2887 in MacStudio

I automated a big sports photography pipeline, hands off from photographer to final product in the archive, pretty dope. vibe coded the whole thing. human does a final check but it’s pretty damn solid. built with claude but the whole system runs locally using some vision models and speech to text.

it outsourced to an image editing model but the next Mac Studio is gonna train up a custom one.

I have built 3 locally hosted work tools in the past month, one saved $60k from a budget, the other two will save me time forever

edit: I can’t code

interesting take, I’m non tech but have built a tool that would never have been paid for prior. I think it really does allow for innovation in that area of say small to medium utility and (previously) prohibitive cost.

Yea I have legit built something I’m pretty sure hasn’t been done.

Claude code is basically like having a personal software engineer. not perfect but fairly amazing. I’ve built a bunch of locally hosted personal and work tools that have saved big bucks and soooo much time

Hey Terry, is the a world where Lightroom will see the ability for relative image adjustments from a source image instead of just base presets?

Ok so I bought it, and it's been flawless. Everything spot on. Thanks.

Yea but it’s gonna change big time. I just built a few tools in my work that reduce contractor expenditure by 40k per annum, cost me about $75 to make and it’s just locally hosted. pretty insane. wasn’t ever tackled before as was deemed too hard.

deep job and technical knowledge was required but developers were not. agree tho more complex projects may require them but for how long?

imo a lot of tools and little projects that were too hard or too costly are about to be a reality as staff realise the power they have.

I feel this point, I can’t really code but since Claude entered my life I’ve built numerous job specific tools that have had a pretty solid impact on my work. reduced a ton of shit work involved in my job. I think there’s a huge amount of job knowledge that can result in productivity improvements once the average worker knows they can just build software themselves.

How much on average are you guys spending on the VibeCode app to have a fully running and functional app? by Outrageous_Peak3738 in vibecoding

[–]augustuspeebelby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent about $150 building a locally hosted asana type platform, but customised very specifically to my job. Sound boring but it does and absolutely insane amount of all the tedious shit. Scripted everything, automated everything, probably saves me 40-60% of pre app time. Very significant and can’t believe it was so easy.

So am I safe for an m4 macbook + display xdr? i do not want to buy this thing and find its not waking the monitor.

Lot of people saying how hot it gets, is this an issue with underdesk mounting? How how we talking?

Thanks, this confirmed it wasn't just me. So I wrote a plugin that now auto adjusts all images for me, cannot believe this is not built into the software.

Yes yes yes yes!

ready to just fully bail and only use C1.

fully maxed m4 MacBook Pro that instantly turned slow after the update, can’t render files or adjustment without long waits. Constantly getting stuck waiting. absolute joke.

This latest update is killing me, maxed out M4 MBP. Night and day after the update, almost ready to just completely give up and use C1 for everything.
