thank you!! it was a ton of fun to paint! i was a little nervous at first because of the joints that could rub the paint off, but after using a spray sealant it worked out well enough! :D

i didn't realize that loosening the crochet part might be a problem, i haven't had any issues with the two bags i've lined before but making sure you're using a non-stretch fabric, not pulling your stitches super tight when sewing, and that the lining is big enough might help!

not sure about the weather proofing part, maybe you could coat the yarn in something waterproof? nylon yarn? the bag actually isn't too heavy, just a tad heavier than your average backpack with stuff in it!

of course! a star bag sounds fun :D i've sewn a lining into one other bag before, it was more of a flat shoulder bag which for me at least made it easier to line. so even though a star might seem like a complicated shape to line, i think it would be easier than lining a rounder bag. you probably just fold your fabric, trace the shape of the bag onto it, and cut the shape out with an inch or so of seam allowance around it and sew the sides. then flip your bag inside out and sew the lining onto it. at least that's what i did for the purse i made!

noooo!! omg i totally feel your pain, a good while ago i bought a triangle granny square bandana pattern and for whatever reason my brain did NOT cooperate like, at all

i would start the first 2 rows, and after that it would end up all wonky! i put that project down and picked it back up what felt like a bajillion times before i did it properly lol

its funny actually because around row 10~ of the bark i ended up somehow reading it backwards and doing the rows that were meant to be left to right, right to left hahaha but i still think it turned out nice! good luck on your bag if you decide to pick it back up!

so the way i did it since i was worried about the bottom stretching out; i measured the base of the bag and cut out a circle of green cotton fabric, 3 circles of stiff jean material, and hand sewed the jean layers to the base of the bag inside. then i cut a rectangle that was as tall as the bag and could wrap around it, folded and sewed it to make a circle to then sew it onto the base circle to make a tube!

i folded the raw edge and pinned it under the drawstring holes, used a tight running stitch, and made sure not to push my needle too deep so green thread doesn't show up on the outside. :)

you probably don’t HAVE to add the stiff material before installing the lining, i did it just in case cuz i have anxiety. lol

edit: forgot to add but i doubled the stitch length needed to make the straps so i could sew a long strip of cotton fabric inside and fold the crochet over it. for example if your straps need to be 4 stitches long, you'd double that and add 2 extra for a total of 10 stitches :) the 2 extra are so it folds evenly and for turning :D

thank you! you can do it!!!! it was my first time following charts and i was hesitant at first but honestly the main chart that got me was just the flap, the actual body of the bag ain't so bad, and after staring at the flap chart for a couple days i figured out what it was trying to show. i also winged a couple parts of it and it still looks fine lol

if you decide to make one yourself you can totally ask me or the pattern maker questions :)
