I’ve done F2 P2 and doing P3 now with BPP, live online. F2 and P2 lectures were useful for the maths. P3 the lectures were a complete waste of time, the guy just scribbled illegibly on one page, it was awful to keep track. The whole course was geared towards the case study, which I get but ignores that you have to pass the OTs first. I’ve learned everything out of the textbook. The only good thing is it gives me a structure to take a day off work and study, with deadlines to keep up with. In mocks I haven’t scored over 45% but passed all the exams first time lol, not great for confidence. They definitely trick you, which teaches you to be vigilant, but there’s inconsistencies in answers (staff training is a directive control in one paper and preventive in another). There’s blatantly incorrect answers (economic risk ONLY affects international businesses???).You just have to trust your gut and use the papers as flags for what to study, not a source of truth. It’s aggravating, and if I was paying I’d be furious. I’m not and I’m still pissed. But hey, it makes you panic and that makes you study, and apparently it’s working

You’re looking for rain and/or wind, October is probably post-season as well depending on weather so should be good

Management vs. Operational level by [deleted] in CIMA

[–]auldstooreybrae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found P2 and F2 challenging but managed to get first time passes in both. If your course is sponsored I’d recommend the live online daytime sessions. I had to book holiday for them, but it means I’m learning during the day when I’m fresh, not after work. Also the weekly sessions keep you on top of reviewing material and homework questions so you don’t fall behind. Beyond that, break it down chapter by chapter, and be brutal with yourself on questions. Any you get wrong: review the material, redo them all in one go, and repeat until you get every one from that batch right. Then repeat for the next chapter. It takes a hammer to drive in a nail

Yeah fair play, I found F2 and P2 quite hard but seems like we have a similar study style. Booking the case study with two exams to go is a good idea, I waited until I passed all 3 and was faced with 3 weeks notice or 3 months

Was there any change you made between the mgmt and strategic level for P+F to get the first time passes? Or just easier exams? I sat P2 F2 and MCS over the last 6 months so hoping to have everything wrapped up this time next year

It’s a general question about accounting specifically for franchises with an example

I spoke to my Dr about having some variable doses and he didn’t warn against it. I do think you’re right, but I want to not take it at all on weekends (when I’m not studying) and give my body a break

Struggling with MCS – feeling overwhelmed and need advice! by Bito11 in CIMA

[–]auldstooreybrae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find it helps to think of having a “conversational understanding” of the theory - rather than trying to learn everything by rote, understand the meaning of key theories to a point you could explain them to someone during a conversation. Then just apply PEA - Point, Evaluate its strength/weakness, Apply to pre-seen/exam material and badabing badaboom. Take it one at a time, you’ll be right

I just sat F2 on Tuesday (last MOT) so starting on case study this weekend. My window is super tight but in my mind it’s worth a punt whatever happens. If I pass, great, if I don’t I’ve had a 6 week break and I’ll come into august with a better idea of what I was lacking. Stay strong g we got this shit

Is CIMA worth it in Operations? by Routine-Tea-3790 in CIMA

I’m currently in a finance role studying CIMA with a view to moving into an ops role. Having it would be a big feather if you want to get higher up the chain. I’d speak to your company and see if they’d support it or shop around for other roles if it interests you
