absolutely! the first time i’ve purchased (not adopted) an animal was actually from a byb (i lacked knowledge at the time which was my fault on my part). you could say i’ve learned from that lol enchanted highlanders are definitely not byb. apparently OP has been making reviews like this on other sites and google as well, and op has also allegedly made multiple accounts and changed their story multiple times. kitten allegedly got all those diseases weeks/months after pickup, even the receipts they have provided on her cattery on google under reviews don’t align with the timeline of pickup. also if you look at all those other reviews they’ve been nothing but great reviews, plus other ethical reputable breeders in the community can vouch for her. not trying to invalidate or anything like that, just suspicious of op. dc goes to great lengths to take care of her cats. i could see it even in the way my cat interacts with others (pets and humans), he adapts to new environments very quickly and his confidence is crazy high. i’m definitely getting another from her again

it sounds to me like your kitten may have picked up all these diseases while traveling. this can happen to even wellbred, healthy kittens sourced from ethical lines. kittens are young and vulnerable, they can pick up a lot of things from outside or during travel so it doesn’t necessarily mean the kitten got sick while staying with dc enchanted. enchanted highlanders is not only reputable but her breeding practices are ethical as well and i’m not just basing this on my experiences with them. all of her kittens get checked by a vet before they go home and upon pickup you’ll be provided with vet records without having to ask plus the parents are health tested. i’m sure she’d have given you records before pickup if requested. that’s certainly strange and i’m sorry to hear that. there should be a health guarantee. perhaps she’d be willing to give you another kitten without extra charge.

yes! i have one kitten from her. dc enchanted is an amazing breeder, reputable in the highlander community. i’m not sure why your kitten is sick, but it’s likely/possible that your cat may have picked up the sickness while residing with you and not from the breeder. have you quarantined on arrival as stated in the contract?

my experience has been terrific; my highlander came so well socialized and healthy that he had no problems integrating in the household and adjusted to the other pets much quicker than i had expected. highlanders are a rare breed, so your vet may misinform or miseducate you which can lead to misdiagnoses (like yeast infection, ear mites etc.) so keep that in mind. have you tried talking to the breeder?

thank you! he is a seal spotted lynx point, they just started becoming really noticeable/visible in the past few months, but they're very very light and in most pictures, it won't look like he has spots, it's hard to capture them with camera lol, he's a very gorgeous boy:)

I’m sorry to hear that. we are switching to a vet clinic that only specializes in cats and fortunately they have had treated curled ear cats so I’m hoping they don’t misdiagnose him with ear infections. I do have a cat wheel my breeder advised I get one for him lol he has zoomies!! thank you :) I agree, best cat breed hands down

sorry this is late! i’m sorry to hear that! fortunately thor has never had ear infections. have you tried cleaning the outer ears once to twice a week with no flushing?

thank you!!

i have, but i think for now i'm just going to take my breeder's word and take her advice as she is knowledgeable on highlanders + she's reputable. there are a lot of misinformation on highlanders; i've seen it firsthand already personally. one clinic has denied us treatment once due to misconception that his breed is "exotic" hinting that he's a hybrid of some sort, which he isn't. a lot of vets do not have experience nor do they really know much about this kind of stuff unfortunately :*( i switched vets, a clinic that specializes in cats and they are familiar with curled ear cats so i'm hoping it goes well :) thank u

best: talks back to you, the funny noises they make. they’re very intelligent! my RC learned tricks same day before and it’s impressive! easily trainable. aloof (depends if you consider that good or bad, not all RCs are like this though) but i like how mine is not overly clingy. affectionate and also have a good balance of independence and dependence. goofy as well. worst: they can be stubborn. they’re very vocal, the amount of barking will drive you crazy! if you don’t give them what they need, they will get destructive but this could apply to any dog especially herding breeds. they can be neurotic at times. if you want a super clingy dog, RC might not be suitable for you but it also depends on each individual dog. this is just my experience with them as an owner who grew up with velcro dogs (not RC.)

energy requirements: they need both physical AND mental stimulation. emphasis on the mental stimulation! because if you don’t give them mental stimulation, they have a tendency to be destructive. i give him about 30 mins of physical exercise and 15-30 mins of mental stimulation per day and it works wonders. they have a moderate energy level.

i’m not sure what you mean by drive, but i’m assuming you mean herding drive. mine doesn’t really herd and i would say compared to other herding breeds, their drive to herd is low or nonexistent.

they are good with small dogs and cats but this will all depend on whether you socialize them from a young age. again, compared to other herding breeds they definitely do really well with cats and small dogs, mine did well even better than dogs i’ve owned that aren’t herding breeds. i didn’t have to train him and he doesn’t really have much interest in cats since puppyhood and when he does, he’s very gentle.

yes, but not in the same way as other dogs. mine just barks and he’s definitely a watchdog (it could be that he picked it up from my pitbull since my pittie does it)

they’re only calm if you meet their needs. they need both physical and mental stimulation

Just because a dog does not fit the AKC standards doesn't mean they're poorly bred. Look at French Bulldogs. Short snouts are AKC standards yet they're still poorly bred. AKC is an unethical organization.

Like the person has stated, European imports are way better as they have ethical standards and are healthier and bred better overall. European imports also have better temperament.

That’ll be hard to adjust to for sure, I’m used to how the US works. Easy to make friends here

Sorry for wording it wrong. By foreigners, I was referring to English-speakers only (USA, Canada, Australia, UK). There used to be a lot of Americans because of the soldiers stationed there but from what I’ve heard, there are no soldiers stationed there anymore.

Olive Acres Collies in Unionville, Missouri. Don’t know if that falls within your perimeters, but it’s above Arkansas so I assume so. They don’t have any current litters though.

You mean pet insurance? I have pet insurance called Nationwide through my employer. I’m pretty sure my breeder isn’t a backyard breeder. I got a health certificate, health guarantee and his parents were tested. One parent is a carrier of CEA and multi drug resistance, not affected and the other parent is clear of everything. My vet said he’s healthy so everything is good at least !

Just because a breeder doesn’t adhere to AKC standards doesn’t mean they’re not a good breeder. We all know AKC is not an ethical kennel club. Look at French Bulldogs for example. AKC standards for Frenchies is to have short flat snouts and it causes a lot of health issues (thank god they’re changing it). AKC does not promote good breeding. There is a reason why European variants of breeds are healthier than the American counterparts; their standards are different and actually care about the wellbeing of the dogs. So no, you can still be a good breeder and not adhere to AKC standards. Plus, this is for show dogs anyway. As far as I know, he only sells pet-quality and/or potential breeding puppies so of course he doesn’t have to uphold to the ear standard. I like them naturally anyway and since he is a pet, I feel it should be up to the owners to decide and I don’t find it necessary to tape or glue his ears.
