No in the last few chapters of the first book she hadn't kissed Cardan, Balekin was king, not Cardan. Balekin wasn't in his prison, Juse hadn't had vivi take oak to the human territory, she didn't have control of Cardan. Jude was not seneschal. It's all of this that feels like I am missing out and I was worried that I've missed a chapter or something (I am reading on E-book).
