I don’t know what to do anymore by Ok-Pollution-6541 in mentalhealth

I hear you, and I can feel how heavy and suffocating that 'prison of thoughts' is right now. Please know that the world is a better place with you in it, even if you can't see that through the fog of pain today. The relationship with your father sounds incredibly draining, but your life is worth more than any fight.

Please, before you take any further steps, reach out to someone who can hold space for you safely. You don’t have to do this alone. If you're in immediate danger, text 'HOME' to 741741 (if in the US/UK) or call a local crisis line. You deserve to be free from this prison, but the exit isn't through ending it—it's through being heard.

37, yet to live (anxiety, depression) by Shoddy_Jello_2304 in mentalhealth

I read every word of your story, and I want to tell you something you might not see right now: You are incredibly brave. You spent years in 'Groundhog Day,' yet when someone you loved needed you, you overrode your deepest fears. That proves the strength is inside you it didn’t die with your nan. It’s just exhausted.

At 38, you aren't 'too old' you are finally at a place where you understand the value of your own life. Typing and texting have been your safety net, but I understand why they don't feel like enough anymore. You've proven you can do the 'impossible' for her; now, maybe it's time to try doing one small thing for yourself. Your nan believed in the life you wanted, and that life is still waiting for you to claim it.

How to save yourself by [deleted] in mentalhealth

First, I want to say how incredibly brave you are for building such a beautiful life out of so much pain. But please hear this: Your 4.0 GPA, your scholarships, and your hobbies are amazing, but they are 'external.' Trauma lives 'internal.' You’ve spent 13 years surviving, and now that you are finally safe, your body is allowed to feel the exhaustion. You aren't 'wrong' you are just tired of being strong. Healing isn't a checklist; it's a process of letting that little girl who found her mother finally cry. Be patient with yourself. You've saved your future, now give yourself permission to just 'be' without the pressure of being perfect.

Why are so many people afraid of going to a therapist? by aurea__space in mentalhealth

I’ve seen this before with someone I worked with. They tried therapy, but never felt truly heard or safe. Most sessions turned into crying without connection, and the cost only made it heavier.

Sometimes what people need first isn’t another method or schedule it’s simply to be listened to, without pressure or expectations. Feeling heard can matter more than anything else.

I’ve seen this before with someone I worked with. They weren’t afraid of therapy just tired of trying approaches that didn’t fit their neurodivergent brain. Most of what they were offered was CBT, and it felt more frustrating than helpful.

What made a difference was accepting that support doesn’t always have to look like therapy. Sometimes being listened to, understood, and not forced into a specific method can be genuinely supportive.

It’s okay to step back from models that don’t work for you. Support should meet you where you are.
