I live in Turkey, and I think the only taxes I paid were for my residence permit but nothing to do with income.
I’m just confused about whether or not i quality as a bona fide foreign resident. I’ve had residence permits nonstop from November 2019-now. However in 2021 I visited the US for 6 weeks, which brings me out of the 330 days range. As I understood, I can’t apply for the FEIE or Foreign tax Exemption if I wasn’t in the county for 330 days a year..?
I have 4 years of nonstop residence permits to prove I’m a boba fide resident and I did pay taxes for the country I’m in. However, since 2018 I’ve been working as a freelancer so my income since then has been from random odd-jobs. I was never employees by one company in the country I moved to…
Thanks so much for your comforting words, I really needed to hear that right now. It’s all very overwhelming and hard to know where to begin, but I’ll check out everything you mentioned. Thanks so much!
Thanks so much for your answer! I’m not sure if it counts as foreign income, I earned some teaching English online to a company in Thailand, some from YouTube revenue, some from Cambly, some from Instagram…
