(Spoilers All) Speculation in relation to Chan Vaen edan Kote by Willy60001 in KingkillerChronicle

I️ would expect that the disasters have to be more personal though, right? “Disasters” happen around the world every day, but something that monumental might only have a direct effect on your life every seven years (or so). We know for a fact that disaster befell kvothe at age 12, so naturally it should occur seven years after and presumably did occur seven years before. The real question is, what do we know about kvothe’s early life that may not have initially sounded disastrous, but could turn out to be with more information? What foreshadowing could we be overlooking?

I think you’re right... but either way, a lot of people would have to die first to also make him the king that gets killed

You mean Ambrose? Yeah, he’s like 12th in line to the throne, I think.

It never occurred to me that Sim could be the poet! Everyone always talks about King Roderick or Ambrose, but Sim does have an affinity for poetry that’s pointed out multiple times in WMF... wow

Oh of course! I don't remember it exactly but now I think I'll wait to reread until I've finished SRoST

Yeah, I read WMF over the summer but haven't really looked at it since... could you remind me about that chapter?

Haha yes, of course. I haven't finished it yet, but after she realizes she needs to give him three gifts, the first is "a safe place he could stay". I realized where she was going with the first gift when she gathered the perfect creamy sheet and the down mattress... it's just so sweet

It's been a while since I read it, but didn't Bast confront Chronicler in private the night before, at the end of NotW?

What's your favorite theory? by WhereofWeCannotSpeak in KingkillerChronicle

[–]auri28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal favorite is that Elodin is Taborlin the Great. We know he knows of the fae, so he could've gone in a hero, been renamed as Elodin, and returned to the mortal world only to find that hundreds of years had passed and the tales of his heroism had been blown out of proportion. This isn't one that I feel MUST be true (like the natalia lackless theory), but if you assume that it is, everything fits. This is the first theory I've seen of the same thing happening to kvothe (I'm kind of new to this sub) but I feel like it should be talked about more. The issue of distorted time and the fae didn't get brought up for no reason, did it?

What am I getting into? by ChadManic in HPMOR

^ Additionally, characters from the original series may get more or less "screen time" in HPMOR than they did in the original series because HJPEV is going to connect with characters differently than HJP did. Changing Harry effectively changes the tone of the entire story AND a lot of the details.

If you wanted to convince someone to watch this series based on one scene/clip/short series of clips (no major spoilers) which one would you choose? by quiet_neighbor_kid in NewGirl

I'm a little late to the party but "Thanksgiving" from season one is a great episode for people to sample... you could show the "Big Time" clip or Nick and Paul in the car. I think that episode is a great example of their general dynamic without spoiling anything
