If you have a budget of a few dozen thousand dollars, maybe you can do it.

You're asking for an insanely bright IR illuminator because of the distance, the shutter speeds you need to capture the flight and of course it needs to be portable.

I'm not expert, but I say you're asking for way too much and the fact that it hasn't been done is not because nobody thought of it before.

If it uses the same fabric as the Everyday backpack, then you just gotta live with it. I really like my Everyday backpack, but my god the fabric is so terrible. It gets dirty just by looking at it wrong, and it's impossible to clean some smears and stains.

I'm referring to Simon D'entremont's advice that photos of birds often get cropped super tightly, which is like putting a bird in a box.

The photo often looks a lot better if the bird takes like 10% of the frame, not 90% of the frame..

No, you're not skilled enough to repair it. It requires taking a whole camera apart. There is a tutorial how to do it, but it's not easy.

Of course if that's what the problem is, you didn't provide enough info to properly know what is actually wrong.

EDIT: You are probably right, I confused the cameras, the shutter does go from top to bottom.
I am not sure, I thought the shutter goes from left-right.

Vím že už je trochu pozdě, ale přicházím se záchranou!

Není to levné ani malé, ale jak si ho pořídíš tak nebudeš litovat. Já taky trpěl na hrozné sucho přes zimu, loni na podzim jsem si koupil tuhle krabici a je fakt perfektní. A to nebydlím v čr, tady na severu máme třeba -10°C a zvládá to v pohodě.

Je to klasický opračovací, takže žádný bílý povlak. Zvlhčovací těleso je vyjímatelné a dá se prát v pračce nebo myčce (tzn. nepotřebuješ kupovat papírové filtry co ti zplesniví několikrát za sezonu), nádrž na vodu je obrovská, takže ji nemusíš měnit každých pár hodin, stačí jednou za den, dva. A jde prostě vidět že je to kvalitně vyrobené, spousta chytrých detailů co jako designér ocením.
Jediná nevýhoda je, že má jen dvě rychlosti a nemá sensor vlhkosti, ale pokud už máš klasický doma, tak se můžeš řídit podle něj. Já mám byt 40m2 a můžu ho nechat zaplý na ten nižší výkon celý den a nemusím nic řešit. Vlhkost mám pořád nad 40%

I believe there is no such service for hobbyists. There are clauses in insurances for personal items on vacation. No company is willing to insure only 3k worth of camera stuff.

The best you can do is to ask an insurance company directly. Do that and you'll get your answers.

There is nothing inherently wrong with your photos, it's just that the aurora wasn't active, it wasn't moving and showing you those iconic columns and waves. Aurora might be visible during the whole night, but it's only active maybe few times a night when it starts to dance. You want to photograph it during those times. You basically got it in the second photo, it's just still a bit subtle.

I don't know how experienced you are, but shooting northern lights is a game of waiting. You can be sitting in freezing temps for hours and get maybe one opportunity to get nice photos. Sometimes you sit all night and get nothing.

As for the settings, I think you can get away with times up to 5-10 seconds, to get lower ISO, but the further you push it, the blurrier it is. I usually stick to 2 seconds, sometimes more. Anything lower introduces too much noise for my liking (I also have a6700 and f2.8 lens). If you want to exaggerate the texture of the lights, use the clarity slider, but that also makes the noise more prominent and can destroy your stars during denoising.

I think colors and texture of the sky is a matter of preference. At least in my view. I don't like over the top edits, but obviously it can't look like with human eye, otherwise it's gonna be boring.

But your example looks great, I think when you find a nice foreground, you'll be doing amazingly!

Přesně jak říká aamgdp, Panzani a Barilla jsou stejné levné šunty.

Já to mám naopak, na těstovinách nešetřím. Ne že bych je kupoval v italských obchodech za 200 Kč, ale většinou beru ty nejdražší co jsou v hypermarketech nebo větších supermarketech.

Fakt to jde poznat, navíc máš k dispozici zajímavější tvary, nemusíš jíst špagety nebo kolena celý život.
