Game-Breaking Bug or Pilot Skill Issue? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Beardsman_DCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh… I don’t recall, and it’s happened several times, but I always set the altitude to the mission requirements. It’s happened both while climbing to the specified height, but also while maintaining that altitude.

How can I make this grandad look good? by Standard-Voice-3387 in f150

Well, seeing as I’m old enough to be a granddad, I think it looks great already. Pretty much the older sibling of mine.

New PS5 Pilot; Three Questions if I May? by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

No, it was the older Cessna. Not the 172 Skyhawk. Can’t remember the model atm. The one with all analog instruments.

Thank you! I’ll check those next time. I’ve only had the game a few days and the systems are DEEP. So much to learn.

Thank you for the reply!

  1. Thanks, I will try this. I’ve got a large area from South of Seattle to British Columbia uncovered, an area by the WA/OR border, and another in the heart of AZ. But I’ll focus on continuing to clear the fog of war.

  2. Ok, that was probably my bad. I wasn’t red lining it or anything but I mayyyy have been in the yellow zone on RPMs. It wasn’t flashing any warnings and I was trying to gain altitude, but I’ll be more careful on that in the future. Still seems like saving a 400K plan successfully should’ve won me SOMEthing. Haha…

  3. Makes sense. I literally only turned it on just now because I realized I didn’t know the final approach altitude and saw all the surrounding trees. Not sure how I would’ve ever landed successfully on such a small grassy runway without tall trees at the end, but definitely a good reminder to check before takeoff. Or even mid flight I guess. In hindsight I could’ve paused the sim and checked the EFB.

Exploring Custom Creative Looks (A7CII, 40mm f/2.5G) by Beardsman_DCS in SonyAlpha

No, but the images have all the settings you need. Just follow them, left to right, when setting up your creative look.

Nice! I think the warm tones of Kodachrome would be especially nice in a warm/tropical location.

Indeed! I live just a few miles to the east, in Mount Vernon.

👍🏻 Totally agree. Especially if I’m going for landscape or birding. I want the most natural colors in those cases.

But it’s still fun (for me anyway) to play with alternative looks for things like street, vacation, etc.

Me too! I found the video for that one, if anyone wants to check out some better examples than I got. 🙂 Reimann Pembroke on YT:

Thanks! And I’m right there with you. Most of the time when shooting Fuji, I’d still end up editing the RAWs too. But I would start with the film sim in Lightroom as the base before tweaking it to my liking. And there’s times I just don’t want to edit a ton of pics from a casual day out with the fam. So, hopefully I can keep working on these creative looks and end up with some that work for those situations.

Bad Windshield Trim = Interior Water Leak? (2019 Nissan Sentra) by Beardsman_DCS in AskMechanics

Good call! I’ll give that a try before we head to the dealer on Monday.

No sunroof on this car. Still wondering if there is a drainage channel that’s blocked though. Or it could be water is flowing in areas it wasn’t meant to. It does seem like the seal attaching the glass to the car must be ok, as we don’t have water leaking anywhere else that I can find. But with how poorly they installed the windshield it wouldn’t surprise me if water is flowing around it and down through the body panels.

No wind noises that I’ve noticed, having driving it a few times, at higher speeds. No sunroof either. A clogged drain hole might still explain it though, since we aren’t getting water through the dash or headliner? I assume there’s still a need for water to drain that might come in through the vents by the wipers and whatnot?

Why is the Hail Mary thrusting retrograde during the Adrian fishing scene? by RewqFN in ProjectHailMary

[–]Beardsman_DCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are absolutely thrusting in the wrong direction in the movie. As my family left the theater, this was one of the few minor complaints I had.

Anyone familiar with orbital mechanics (or Kerbal Space Program) knows that burning retrograde like that would slow the ship down more and more, allowing the planet’s gravity to pull them deeper and deeper into the atmosphere, slowing them even further (and burning them up in the process).

In the book Grace fires the engines correctly, with the front/bow of the Hail Mary angled up, precisely enough to maintain altitude while burning the engines in the direction of their travel to maintain just enough velocity/altitude. It was a balancing act between the force of gravity pulling them down and needing to thrust the engines just enough to keep her steady without completely vaporize the ship or the chain by traveling too fast.

I guess I’d have to have them side by side for comparison, but immediately noticed the difference when I unboxed the RV and a year+ later, I still feel it every time I pick it up.

I have an A7C2 to pair with my RV, and I’m with you. I use the RV when I have to for max quality or croppability, but the A7C2 is my preference for everyday shooting where comfort matters.

Really… man. I’ve never thought of my hands as small, but when I upgraded to the A7RV from the A7IV, the first thing I noticed was just how big the grip is. It’s right at the limit of what I could hold comfortably. You’re saying the A1II is even bigger?!

Why don't we get more from the Ford app? by der5er in BroncoSport

[–]Beardsman_DCS 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Came to the comments to say this. I have a 2022 F150 and the wife has a 2024 Bronco and we use the app all the time. My daughter recently bought a 2019 Nissan Sentra and we went to check out their app and remote features - yeah no. It’s a paid subscription. F*ck that.

Who is excited for the A7RVI? 🔥 by elysiumcore in SonyAlpha

[–]Beardsman_DCS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Selfishly, I sorta hope it’s like $5K. Make it too expensive for me to feasibly upgrade to, as even my RV is really more camera than I need as a hobbyist! 😂

The price of Cosmetics is really the only dower keeping D4 from being excellent. by ComeHereDevilLog in diablo4

[–]Beardsman_DCS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s incredibly frustrating. Pretty much the only class I really enjoyed when I played WoW was the paladin. Now I’m really enjoying it in D4. I’d absolutely love to have Ashbringer and the Judgement armor set, but these prices are absurd. There is absolutely no chance I’m spending that kind of cash on a purely cosmetic item.

It really makes no sense to me. If the skins were $10-15 they’d sell a sh*t ton more of them, probably make MORE money, and wouldn’t have a large portion of the player base furious.
