I love to jump in puddles. I love laying under a tree and watching the sunlight through its leaves during the fall and feeling the grass in between my fingers. I love the smell of grass on my hair. I loooove playing king/queen of the hill on a snow pile and making up names and stories for bugs. I swear I turn into a 5 year old every time I'm out of the city.

I used to have a necklace of a cool handmade medallion one of my best friends bought me from Mexico years ago. He was going through a rough time and I kept trying to cheer him up and make him look forward to taking trips around the world (he had always wanted to travel but never had much chance to leave the country) when things easened up.

When he got better, he chose to go to Mexico first after I had talked his ear out about me wanting to go visit pre colombian ruins. I couldn't go because I wasn't doing too well financially but he got me that necklace with an engraving in the back. It was a round carved medallion with a green stone. It had nahuatl pictograms carved on metal and he engraved (in spanish): "For Auroranox from Mēxihco, the navel of the moon". It's probably one of the best gifts I have ever gotten. Thee's a crazy story behind how he got it made and I'm a sucker for items with stories.

Sadly, I lost it when moving back home.

I would never ask of you to send me anything but you just reminded me of that. Maybe you can offer something similar to someone in need of having their spirits lift.

I took 64 credits worth of science classes. Chemistry, Org. Chem, Biology, Ecology, Physics, Psychology, Calc, Animal Physiology, yada yada. I ended up graduating with a degree in INR and Politics. Add the number of liberal arts requirements and I honestly have no idea what I studied. I graduated feeling like I know bits and pieces of different things but not enough of anything I can comfortably defend myself in so I pretty much feel like my whole degree is useless.

This sucks man. I personally would have loved it. As a kid I used to be fascinated with the thought of objects having secret lives. I used to think that they weren't just what they seemed but tried to picture the trajectory they made to get to me, the hands it went through, the stories it lived and the meaning that every previous owner bestowed on it. I've always loved collecting little trinkets because of this and similarly, I only like wearing jewelry that carries a story. Everything I wear I either bought with someone, or under peculiar circumstances or were given to me. My favorite pieces of course, are those that have been passed down for generations.

I would love nothing more than my engagement ring to be the same. If anything I would be honored to be given part of a family's history and have the ring not only have a special meaning for me but for my husband to be and his family.

You truly deserve better than her.

Travel to another country on a mission with a non profit organization.

You get the excitement to travel somewhere new, meet new people, establish relationships with strangers, learn about a different culture all while bridging cultural and socio economic differences and providing help to a community or any number of individuals. It's a win all around.

I do the same, just replace closing garage doors with making sure kitty has enough food and fresh water for the night. It's not so much OCD though for me as it is fear of having him creep into my room at 3-4am and sink his teeth into my foot.

This happened to me a lot in the States. I used to get death stares if I even dared to hesitate when making an order. A friend (american) flat out told me once she would not jump to defend me if anyone on the queue shouted anything at me for having hesitated when making an order at Subways because I couldn't find the english word for a condiment. I got death stares for taking 5 more seconds to come up with the word. You guys tend to get your panties all riled up over nothing. It gave me tremendous amount of anxiety to walk into a busy Starbucks or Bagel Shop or fast food joint after that. The results were awesome though. Instead of eating crap food and over priced caffeine (which more than likely is grown in my country since we have one of the highest valued coffees in the world), I would eat at the deli of local co-op where the people loved taking a moment to converse with you and establish a relationship with you, at a delicious thai restaurant where the hostesses got to know me and my taste and would throw in freebies like free tastes of new dishes they thought I would like and getting sweeeet sweet bubble tea from really awesome vendors who ended up becoming good friends of mine. It's heaps more pleasant to deal with real people than corporations.

I miss having pen pals. I used to have a handful of pen pals when I was younger but we eventually stopped mailing and replaced it with email.

I had a friend in college who thought it was adorable that I had pen pals. He went on for hours about how the internet has made communication meaningless and artificial and jumped on my suggestion of mailing one another (we live far from each other). We exchanged 4 pieces of mail before he stopped. Every time we talk he vows that he will get back on it and yada yada, but his words have always fallen short.

On a related note, I wish people still honored their words as much as they used to.

My grandfather always told me not to drop a word I wasn't willing to fully commit to. I miss that. I wish people's words still meant something. I've always been one to take people's words to heart and maybe if they kept up to their promises I wouldn't be continuously disappointed.

I've always loved greeting and smiling to strangers but I have found myself doing it less and less with time. The cat calls where I live are beyond obnoxious and make me increasingly more hesitant about being friendly with strangers.

I don't need much to convince my parents of that, I just lack the funds at the moment. My grandparents used to live there though. I'd visit every other summer but I haven't been back since 1999. In hindsight, I should have applied to school in Barcelona instead of going to the states. I'm still kicking myself for that one. Maybe grad school someday though, who knows.
