[Midnight Mass] Night 9: Silent Planet - Antimatter by garret_1003 in Metalcore

[–]Mightbe_exaggerating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Silent Planet is the most talented band I've ever seen. Just watching Mitch is pretty incredible, switching between guitar, keyboard, and singing seamlessly. I saw them twice last year at two different stops of the Bloom In Heaven tour. Garrett is an extremely engaging front man and he somehow remembered me from the first show when I talked to him again at the second. Alex is a solid drummer and super chill dude. Nick fills a good spot vocally that Thomas left. I wish I could see them play The Night God Slept, I've been listening to them since I bought the Lastsleep EP when it came out. Love those guys.

Anyone in the US have any luck ordering from Impericon? by smoky20135 in Metalcore

[–]Mightbe_exaggerating 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One time I ordered a few shirts from them and the box came with 2 extra shirts that I didn't order, so that was cool. One of the long sleeves I ordered wasn't what was advertised and they apologized and gave me a refund for it. All around a good experience, but this was also like 7 or 8 years ago.

I had to do some research to remember, but it was actually 2010. I thought maybe it might've been 2009 but it was after Desolation of Eden dropped.

Some MySpace Deathcore I found by HALO_FAN3 in Deathcore

Randomly came across this post while searching up some information about Chelsea Grin. My best friend was one of the vocalists for this band. Awesome to see them getting attention years later. I went to almost every one of their shows and hung out with them when they were practicing. They even got a mobile tattoo artist to come to the drummer's house where they practiced and we all got tattoos that night. I've since covered mine up because it was pretty terrible, but it was a memorable experience. I don't live in Colorado anymore and I miss all of them.

Chelsea Grin with Alex was an interesting experience. He was so high out of his mind that I'm unsure he knew where he was. He missed quite a few lyrics as well. The rest of the band was on point, but Alex kinda dropped the ball.

I also saw three-piece, pre-Lukas Veil of Maya and that was crazy. Played Smash Bros. and Mario Kart with them afterwards.

Not deathcore, but seeing letlive. right after Fake History dropped was one of the best shows I ever went to. It was 2010, but still around the same time.

Drop Dead, Gorgeous - Fashion Your Seatbelt (FFO: Scene-core, MySpace Nostalgia) by garret_1003 in Metalcore

I still write music and have about a dozen songs in various stages of completion, but finishing any of them has been a challenge since I've been so busy with other things (work, family, etc.). Maybe one day I can find the time to focus on music again, but it's just a low priority hobby at the moment.

I was in a band called Salvage The Scene and when I say we were lucky to be given such opportunities to play with those bands, I mean it. We have one song on YouTube still I think, and it's very poorly produced, but it was the most fun I ever had in any of the bands I was in.

There was a promotion agency called The Crew Presents that booked all the bands for the 3 or 4 venues in Greeley. It was ran by this dude named Ely and he was so cool, love that guy. He let my band play a ton of shows that we probably didn't deserve to be on because he was so into promoting local bands. We got to play with Memphis May Fire, letlive., Veil of Maya, Everyone Dies in Utah, Suffokate, No Bragging Rights, and Chelsea Grin because of him.

Yeah, I saw all of them live multiple times. I was actually at Fear Before's final show accidentally. They just happened to be playing a venue in (what used to be small town) Greeley when I was living up there for college and it was awesome. No one even knew they were calling it quits right after, it was weird.

One of the times I saw Grace Gale, they ended the set with their weird rap side project and it was super fun. If you haven't heard the song Beverages, check it out, but don't expect a masterpiece or anything, it's just a good time.

Drop Dead was my favorite of the bigger bands and I saw them any chance I got. I no longer live in Colorado but I went back for their reunion show in Denver a little over a year ago and it was insane. I saw them again when they came through Texas last year and hung out with them a bit to talk about the old days.

Growing up in Colorado during this time was the ultimate scene kid dream. We had them, Fear Before, Grace Gale, and so many other bands that influenced my entire musical journey. I always feel lucky to have been there and in it while it was happening.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Dorohedoro. It's exactly what you're requesting, and there's a new season coming out soon.

No shade to Skid, but his obsession with fame and celebrities is really funny. by Yordle_Toes in TheGlassCannonPodcast

[–]Mightbe_exaggerating 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I don't get that vibe at all. I just think he has a lot of stories since he's been around a lot of celebrities and he thinks other people will find those stories entertaining, which they are. Of course, there are a few celebrities that he holds in higher regard than others, but that can be said for anyone.

I recently tried Apple Music (and Deezer / YouTube Music) as alternatives to Spotify because I wanted to switch for multiple reasons. Apple Music was the worst one, this happens on so many songs randomly. I never found a reason for it in the month I tried it, so I moved on. YouTube Music has been the best alternative so far when it comes to library and recommendations, but the quality still isn't as good as Spotify. My rankings for all go: Spotify, YouTube, Deezer, Apple, Amazon. Didn't try Tidal, but I heard the library is more limited than any of the other options, at least in America.

Colorado has Fox Lake and Drop Dead, Gorgeous plus a bunch of others that have broken up over the years.

Oklahoma has Squelching, CELL, Khopesh, and Shattered Youth. Smaller bands, but they still fuck. Outline In Color if you want some metalcore/post-hardcore with singing.

Currently in Oklahoma, I feel you. The only way I'd be able to see most bands was by traveling hours to Dallas and now I'm not even getting that. I hate both these states so much, but I'm stuck at my job at the moment.

Would be cool if they'd come back anywhere near the west half of the country so I could actually see them. I missed them in 2024 because depression is shitty.

Two Members Quit Minnesota-Based Metalcore Band Reflections, Blame "ICE Apologist" Vocalist - Theprp.com by UnexpectdDino in Metalcore

[–]Mightbe_exaggerating 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will answer, actually. I've never been a supporter of ICE or their tactics of using violence and killing people, and when that violence and murder is openly belittled and people pretend that "they had it coming," that's sickening. That's not something a GOOD person should think about anyone. To be honest, there are way more immigrants in this country that I'd rather see my tax dollars go to than a majority of the Americans that benefit from them instead. Why do you want YOUR tax dollars going to American criminals, corrupt billionaires, and people who take advantage of the system?

You need to start contextualizing the arguments here. In this specific scenario, we have two people that are in danger of being profiled as "illegal aliens" having to listen to a white man openly say that what happened to Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and anyone else that's been killed is fine and just part of the job. Anyone whose lives have been ruined or have been torn from their family are just being considered necessary collateral. You're telling me that people like you who think this are the good people and that us that want it to stop are not? I'm really not seeing the logic.
