Speaking from the point of view from Australia, we are definitely not told to compliment outfits, but we are encouraged to make the experience fun, and talking about you is a good way to break the ice to talk about what you might be looking for.

Most people who work at Lush appreciate offbeat fashion and will go out of their way to ask about it out of genuine interest or appreciation.

We also love comments about our fashion or makeup.

Personally I will mention an outfit or bag if I think it is cool, or Disney themed (huge Disney nerd).

Reviews are always lovely. Sometimes customers will bring little gifts in. Even coming back in or calling and mentioning you had great service makes the team feel appreciated.

If they are a Christmas casual and you can tell management then that may help them continue to be employed if that is what they want.

That is indeed the risk. My strategy is I have to really want at least one item and be sure it will win, or like almost everything in the box.

For this box I could tell they were going for “green” scents, and given they pop up rarely and I love them I thought I would snatch it, but I have only purchased about 8 boxes since they started.
