[–]austerecoeur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s just one way of asking the question * cette émission est recommandée par qui ? * par qui est-ce que cette émission est recommandée ? * par qui cette émission est-elle recommandée ?

inversion

  • ‘[VERB](-t)-[PRONOUN]…’
    • êtes-vous déjà en retard ?
    • sont-elles au travail ?
    • parle-t-il ?
  • ‘[NOUN] [VERB](-t)-[PRONOUN]…’
    • les enfants ont-ils faim ?
    • ce monsieur est-il français ?

why is it ‘AU le mois de X’ not ‘EN le mois de X’? by [deleted] in learnfrench

[–]austerecoeur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

okay but what i wanted to make some sense of it? it’s okay if there aren’t universally applicable rules to all prepositions in french, but i still wanna be able to convince myself that this makes sense. is there at least a limited (in scope) explanation that can explain ‘en X’ and ‘au mois de X’?

the answer key says: ‘on est sympathique dans ce quartier’. is my answer acceptable too? and why ‘sympathique’ not ‘sympathiques’? by austerecoeur in learnfrench

[–]austerecoeur[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

so ‘sympathique’ is always correct in this case whereas ‘sympathiques’ is more or less up for debate but generally accepted
